I was meeting up with an old friend for steamboat buffet, getting to the carpark gets a little tricky. The ambience was quiet, not much of a crowd at The Buffet, maybe because it's a weekday. The staff are very friendly, the waitress actually taught us how to mix sauces for our steamboat buffet rather than leaving us to our own devices. We had the clear and light chicken soup and Sour and Spicy Tom Yum Soup. They serve really fresh prawn, promfet and flower crab. all their ingredient is nicely cut and place neatly. Their assorted 'balls' is bouncy and delicious. Must try their fried beancurd skin, very tasty especially when it soaks up the sweet soup after a few rounds of cooking. Their western dessert section was so so. continue reading

My pal birthday and we decide to go M Hotel for Steamboat Buffet. The Buffet at M Hotel is at Level 2. We can choose 2 soup base and we decide to have tom yum and chicken soup. Other choice of soup base include laksa and miso soup base. Check out the range of food for the steamboat. The choice are quite a lot and the ingredients are fresh. There is even a counter for herbal prawn where the chef will scald and cook the live prawn. Super fresh and sweet prawn. The range of desserts available. My favourite dessert is the durian mousse. Very fragrant durian and nice. Addictive too, this durian dessert alone I had 6 rounds of it.the price for this buffet is a bit steep. But the staff service is prompt and quick. I requested them to prepare a small birthday cake for my friend and they agree immediately with a nice cheese cake. continue reading

Had a mini gathering with my friends at The Buffet located in M Hotel. Most of us would thought that it should be a normal international kind of buffet but they are actually offering steamboat buffet. They are basically 4 types of soup base : Chicken herbal, Laksa, Tom Yam and Miso. You can choose up to 2 soup base per steamboat. So since we had 2 steamboats, we tried all the soup base. The laksa soup based is worth mentioning ; although it seems quite watery, the laksa taste was quite strong and tasty. The rest of the soup base are quite normal. The Buffet offers quite a big spread of items for their steamboat buffet. From normal Nong Tau hoo to seafood ( they even served white pomfret) to sliced meat ( pork, mutton & beef). And the best part is that they offered a wide spread of dessert too! continue reading

Even though this hotel may be located at quite an inconvenient location, but because of the great taste for their steamboat buffet dinner, excited people like me will still willing to travel there to enjoy their steamboat buffet. The available items on their menu may not be wide, but all are with good quality and the service here is very good as well. Especially like to eat their sliced sotong meat which is very fresh and chewy. Goes well in the steamboat and also taste great when dip in their special made chilli sauce. continue reading

It is really ‘THE BUFFET’! Usually the cost of a steamboat meal will be around $20++ to $50? But this steamboat buffet cost us (open your eyes big) $153 exactly for 2 after GST. Yes, you didn’t see it wrongly it is one hundred and fifty-three dollars. Nowadays, there’s too many China own steamboat restaurants which are substandard so I was searching for quality steamboat and found The Buffet. If you plan to have steamboat buffet during the weekends, call at least 1 week in advance! You can feel the good service here from the moment you step in to the end of your dining experience at The Buffet. The staffs never fails to say “Be careful, there’s step” to every guest who walk in when he/she steps in to The Buffet. And the staff will greet you “Good evening!”There’s four soup base namely: Tom Yam, Laksa, Chicken and Pork Rib.What impressed us was that they offered individual wet towel not wet tissue!Their live station mainly serve Herbal Prawns and slice pork. How I wish there’s salmon there! I was walking towards the condiments to get my sauce and when I walked back to my table the staff already got it done with red cut chili and 1 other kind of chili which I wasn’t sure of. Their service was super efficient! You can top up another $7 for free flow of drinks BUT you can only stick to the same drink you have throughout. It will be better if they allow us to switch mid-way.What is outstanding here is that they offer big slices of fish meat.Their deserts here are awesome!Throughout the meal, the staffs were prompt to clear the dirty plates but not so prompt on topping up the drink but given the demands of their attention, they did well!I could also observe that the staffs do remember their regulars and they do interact well even with the kids! There’s this personal touch here which you just want to come back.Overall, The Buffet do charge a little high but they provide quality and personal touch so that’s the bargain isn’t it? At the end of the day, do you want to waste money on substandard steamboat of which you regret to patronize or spend and enjoy quality steamboat? continue reading
