For drinks, I had the mango juice which is reasonably priced at $5. They do not serve fresh juices though, so skip this if you do not like artificial fruit juices. They do serve floats but the floats can get really filling if you order the banquet platter as their portions are huge and value for money.

First up, we had the Homemade Mushroom Soup ($9.50) served with a stick of garlic bread. The button and shiitake mushrooms are blended and made into a creamy mushroom soup. It would be good to share with at least 1 as the mushroom flavour is rather thick.

For starters, we also had Platter C ($24.90) which consists of chicken drumlets, calamari rings, prawn twisters, potato wedges, and sausage and bacon bites. The chicken drumlets were a favourite. Although they were all deep-fried, they were not oily. The calamari rings had the right texture and were not overly chewy. I also like the prawn twisters which were crispy and had a unique touch to it. In contrast to the deep-fried snacks, the salad served as a refreshing side.

We had the Queen Victoria Banquet ($169.90 for 4-5pax). There are roasted beef with black pepper sauce, premium BBQ baby back ribs, pan-seared snapper with wasabi mayo, sauteed scallops with garlic and cream sauce, and lastly, oven-baked king prawns with melted mozzarella cheese.

The only disappointment here was the beef steak which was dry, tough, and felt like it had been cooked beforehand. The black pepper sauce was yummy though and I wished that they had given more of it. That aside, I enjoyed the various seafood in this banquet. The snapper fish was really tender and fresh but I would prefer if there were no bones in it. The king prawns were huge and they went well with the melted cheese. The BBQ baby back ribs were tender and the sweet BBQ sauce complemented the ribs well. This banquet came with lots of roasted potatoes underneath as well as assorted vegetables.

We also tried their Wales Beef Bolognese ($19.90) which is one of their signature dishes. The sauce is homemade and sauteed with grated carrots and onions, and reduced with fresh cream and red wine. It has a rich bolognese taste which may be a tad overwhelming for some to finish it alone. I find the taste very authentic and bolognese lovers should like this.

Lastly, we had the Beer Battered Fish & Chips ($21.90). This is served with mesclun, straight cut fries, and homemade egg tartar. The fish and chips looked oily but they were surprisingly not when I tried them. The fish had retained lots of moisture in them but the batter was not soggy. Although tender, the texture of the fish was too soft for my liking.

***

King Louis is perfect for group gatherings and family dinners. With their selections of banquets to choose from, you can prepare to FEAST LIKE A KING!

The starters were good, I especially liked the Banana bacon bites and the Prawn twisters. The Mussels and Scallops in Platter D were also super fresh. I didn't touch the Caesar salad though as it was covered with loads of cheese.

For main course, I had the Pan Fried fillet of Snapper $23.90++. The chunky snapper fillet was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, very tasty! The roasted potatoes were a nice change from the fried version on the other dishes.

All the main courses were huge, even the caesar salad was served in a gigantic bowl. Some of us didn't managed to wolf down everything on the plates. Food was generally yummy, ingredients were fresh and well prepared. I find the menu a little too meaty with very few selection of non meat dishes. Service was good as the diner was quite empty during lunch hours. Overall, it was a nice dining experience.

Simply love how the restaurant has many different table setting to choose from. Majority are long tables and benches made from specially crafted wood. These's also the more formal type of table setting with office chairs and black tables. Very cool to hold a small group meeting here.

The armored knights as well as the interior decor keeps me very fascinated and I just can't stop snapping photos. They also added extra effect like the spider webs, skulls and the black paper ghosts for the Halloween festive feel.

The King Louis Platter consisting of fried sausages, fried wedges, fried onion rings and a small portion of salad. Perfect starter but later we regretted choosing this over the Chicken Ceasar Salad because the main platter was so huge that we really can't finish it and have to call more friends to join us.

Consisting of Roasted beef with Black Pepper Sauce, Premium BBQ Baby Back Ribs, Roasted English-style Queen Pullet, Lamb Steak with Rosemary Herbs, roast potatoes, assorted vegetables like long beans, cauliflower and carrot and salad. Fruits are on skewers.

As I don't take beef and lamb, I can only enjoy this portion of the platter. My favourite is the BBQ Baby Back Ribs. The meat is well marinated and is really tender. Best part, the meat fell off the bone easily.

Roasted English-Style Queen Pullet was a decent dish. Read other reviews and found out that the restaurant uses chilled instead of frozen chicken so that's a plus point. However, the breast meat was a bit dry, so I only ate the thighs which are juicy and tender.

When you enter the restaurant, the first half of the restaurant is furnished with wooden tables and bench according to the medieval theme. Alas, closer to the 2nd half of the restaurant is decorated more like a corporate meeting room rather than medieval castle theme, a bit of loss of identity halfway through. To incorporate Halloween theme this month, the King Louis has added a touch of Halloween theme with pumpkins and black-orange décor to create the atmosphere.

The Halloween feast started with Highlandar Pumpkin Soup. The soup is thick, smooth and creamy. It is slightly on the sweet side and garlic bread is there to offset the sweetness. Portion is quite generous for a starter and it feels a bit heavy for an appetiser.

The King Louis platter is basically 3/4 fried stuff and 1/4 veggies served with sweet chilli sauce. It has two pieces of fried sausages, fried wedges and fried onion rings. The sausages are hard and salty, but the dish are saved by the crispy yet moist onion rings and the wedges. If fried stuff is not your thing, stick with the veggies.

We ordered our roast beef cooked to medium rare. The meat is not from best cut, but kudos to the chef to make sure that it is tender. According to the insider info, it was well marinated before it was seared, roasted, sliced and put on the grill for the final touch. It is cooked to between medium rare to medium, tender with pinkish colour in the middle.

The baby back ribs is sweet and fall of the bone. Kind of remind you of the Tony Romas or Cafe Cartel style. I preferred a little bit more bites to my ribs, but this is individual preference. A quick check with cptslowyeo (another openricer), who just came back from the Uncle Sam land, the one that I like is more to the Northern style while the one served here is more to the southern style.

The lamb chop is gamey, hard and chewy. Maybe a little meat tenderiser will help though. The chicken, is dry and not succulent for the breast part, while it was slightly better on the thigh and drumstick. Very inconsistent in the cooking and personally I won't actually recommend these two items. The best part of the sides is the pineapple. You should have a few slices with the proteins, as it helps to cut through the fats and stop you from being overwhelm by meat.

For desserts, we had coconut ice cream with almond shavings. Surprisingly it is quite good, not very sweet and the shaved almond provide the crunchy texture. I only manage to have a few bites because I was in food comma after all the proteins intake.

Overall, I find that dining in King Louis is more like dining in one of the restaurant in a theme park where a big group will come together and have a great time. You might have to lower down your gastronomic expectation. The Halloween feast that we had was priced at $149.90 and it is easy can feed a group of 6 and can be consider value for money. With a little tweak and more attention to the cooking time, the food has the potential to be better. Cheers and Happy Halloween !!!

Hi guys! This is my virgin post and i shall dedicate it to The King Louis Grill & Bar located at Vivocity!

Be prepared to be welcomed by a group of friendly and helpful staff the moment you step into their restaurant. I was served with my drinks pretty quickly the moment i settled down.

Ok, shall proceed to the main point!

First up, the Highlander Pumpkin Soup! This dish was specially tailored for the Halloween Season! It features a thick and creamy pumpkin soup topped with a garlic bread. Well, i tried to finish to soup but i quickly decided that i should save my stomach for more awesome food. Hence, i used the pumpkin soup as a sauce to my garlic bread instead. Be sure you catch this dish before its gone!

Next up, English-Style Chicken Caesar Salad. Im a huge fan of Caesar Salad, and im really glad to say that this is one of the best Caesar Salad i ever had. If the word "salad" reminds you of nothing but veggie, you really got to try this. Many of times when i order salad, i will end up munching on the veggie like a cow. But, the Caesar Salad from this restaurant added generous amount of crispy croutons, tasty bacons and also a freshly boiled egg!

And here comes the highlight....Queen Isabelle Platter!! Well just as what i captioned in my open snap: All the best things in one plate. This platter contains steak, pork, chicken and lamb!ok, they have really fanciful names so here goes:

(1) Roasted Beef with Black Pepper Sauce
(2) Premium BBQ Baby Back Ribs
(3) Roasted English-Style Queen Pullet
(4) Lamb Steak With Rosemary Herbs

The roasted beef was really supple and well marinated in the black pepper sauce and you can taste that the sauce had already been infused into the beef.

The baby back rib separates from its bone easily. It is really soft and easy to chew.On the down side, i think that it is a little dry. But, dont worry, you can request for the gravy from the friendly staff and it will taste awesome again!

I think that the texture and taste of the Queen Pullet pale out as compared to the others in the platter. It was dry. I tried dipping into the sauce provided but the chicken couldnt absorb the sauce. Fyi, i took the breast meat. Maybe thats the reason why it is dry. The thigh meat looks fine though!

Finally, the lamb steak. The persin-in-charge mentioned that it might taste a bit "lamby" to some. But it is definitely alright for me!

And the final dish prepared for us was the Coconut Ice-cream!It features a cup of coconut ice-cream glazed with honey and topped with generous amount of almonds!Totally loving this desert after a hearty meaty meal!

If you are looking for a simple night out with your loved ones or friends gathering, The King Louis Grill & Bar should definitely be the top choice. It is strategically located at the Harbourfront Walk where you can enjoy the night scenery of Singapore while having high quality food. Personally, i really like the ambience of this restaurant. And i would recommend anyone reading this to give this restaurant a try!

Attended my first food tasting event last Tuesday at The King Louis!

The openricers were treated to such an extensive meal that all of us chose the option "going to burst" when asked about the portion of food at the end of the day, not mentioning the leftovers that we had for each and every dish. Anyway, we had the pleasure of being the first few to try out their Halloween Feast because they just launched it in the month of October and we were there on the 2nd!

First on the menu was their Highlandar Pumpkin Soup. I believe it's not difficult to understand why they chose pumpkin over other ingredients. Ellie, the person-in-charge from The King Louis mentioned that their pumpkin soup is made in-house using fresh pumpkin & hence they are able to control the thickness and consistency. The soup was thick and creamy, but too heavy for my liking. (I don't prefer cream-based food/ creamy soup e.g. lobster bisque) I love the bread though. Crust was crispy and centre was soft.

The King Louis Platter that consists of garlic sausages, wedges and onion rings, served with sweet chilli and salad. I couldn't emphasize how much I love the onion rings! Just perfect. I thought that their garlic sausage tasted pretty good, succulent and juicy. Consistency, however, could be improved because one of them was shrivelled and dry, so much so that we thought that they were two different kinds of sausages.

My favourite has got to be the Lamb Steak with Rosemary Herbs (pictured below) because it's really tender. However, it depends on individuals whether they can accept the "lamby" taste. I'm not really a fan of lamb steak but I thought the taste was quite acceptable and not in any way overpowering.

Roasted English-Style Queen Pullet was a disappointment even though it was a plus point that the restaurant uses chilled instead of frozen chicken. The breast meat was just way too dry. Heard that the thighs were juicy though.

Their Roasted Beef with Black Pepper Sauce tasted pretty average to me, despite it being a popular option among patrons. Not sure if it has to do with the wellness of the steak. Our table asked for medium well but most of the beef steak were well done. Some even tasted bitter because of the charred surface.

Especially addicted to the baked potatoes that were hidden under the meat. Ended up eating so much carbs even though we were already so full from the meat. Long beans kind of tasted too raw for our preference. Overall, I definitely have higher expectations for their hot favourite dishes and they could possibly do better with quality control to maintain consistency of food.

Last but not least, Coconut Ice Cream topped with generous amount of almond, drizzled with honey/ caramel sauce. The ice cream on top tasted way too sweet because of the honey/ caramel sauce but as you dig into it, it's really refreshing.

Awesome way to end off a heavy and meaty meal!

Overall, it's a fairly good experience for me. The ambience is really nice for those who're interested to chill out on a Friday night with a large group of friends! And another thing to note, their platters are really huge. A group of 4-5pax can probably share the small 2-3pax platter unless all of you have really big appetite! Check out their promotional price in the poster below. Note that the Halloween Feast is only available for dinner from Thursdays to Saturdays.

for 2-3pax and 4-5pax respectively.)

King louis is a theme restaurant which offers many value for money options. For example, there's 1 for 1 main course deals during weekdays, on top of the daily set meal deals.

During my last visit, I had the following under the Halloween Feast:

1) Highlander Pumpkin Soup
It was very rich with a bit of grainy pumpkin texture to it, complemented with a well toasted garlic bread. Not over the top in terms of taste, but if you like a huge bowl of soup before your mains, you may probably like this.

2) English-Style Bacon Caesar Salad
The bacon Caesar salad is one of my favourite, just nice to whet my appetite. Tangy sauce, fresh crunchy vegetables n aromatic bacon. yum yum!

3) King louis platter
It was a mixture of onion rings, wedges and chicken sausages. Basically, a fast food platter you will see at any restaurants, but i would prefer the platter to come with different kinds of sausages and each sausage to match the size n juiciness of bratwurst.

4) Queen Isabelle Platter

The dish comprised of a heap full of beef, lamb, chicken n pork ribs n greens. Good for carnivores.

The roasted beef with black pepper sauce was definitely not a high quality cut, but they have done their best to tenderise the meat. It was a slim cut, not the typical thick juicy slab.

The premium BBQ baby back ribs was very tender and soft. 1 of my favourite among the four meats. I would have liked it even more if the chef goes slightly easy on the marinate.

The roasted English- Style queen pullet was an OK dish. Quite difficult to go very wrong with chicken dish, I feel. It's generally well seasoned and decent.

The lamb Steak with rosemary herbs did not quite taste like mutton, instead it tasted like rubber with herbs.

5) Coconut ice cream with (lots of) almond flakes, I love it!! To begin with, i am not a coconut ice cream fan, but this desert treat changed my opinion.

As the above is part of Halloween set meal, I thought the dishes could have a closer connection to Halloween. Say if pumpkin soup with coconut ice cream? Or food served in pumpkin jack-o lantern?

Overall, it's value for $ and the standard of food is ok, good place to catch up with friends who are abit tight on budget.

Happy to be invited to Special Halloween Feast!
The bubbly organisers and friendly staff are very friendly and guided us into our sitting area.
1) Pumpkin Soup
Rich, thick, creamy, was told to be made fresh specially for Halloween season only.
2) English style bacon cesar salad
Typical crispy greens with SALTY bacon.
3) King Louis Platter
Susages with onion rings and wedges, served with sweet chilli. Susage skin a bit tough. Regular finger food.
4) Meat Platter / Queens Isabelle Platter
Hearty presentation with four different meats (Roasted Beef with black pepper sauce, Premium BBQ Baby Back Ribs, English-style Pullet AND Lamb steak with Rosemary Herbs)
Will definitely score for meat-lovers!
Valued for $ as its $149++
Portion was big enough for 6-7pax instead of "for 4pax"
Plenty of delicious roasted potatoes and greens underneath the meats
Pineapples were also there to help to feel less heavy. (prefer the pineapples to be more grilled to extract out the juices and sweetness)
Our medium-rare beef was juicy and tender.
Pepper sauce wasn't too spicy, just right for us.
Goes with Dark Beer
Ribs were a specialty of King Louis.
You will wish to eat more as they were well marinated and flavourful. The meat was pretty tender and could be easily detached from the bone. Was considering to use hands to eat it as doesn't using hands to eat make it taste better..
Pullet thigh was juicy. Wish to eat more but was too full to finish them.
Lamb has room for improvement.
For dessert, we had coconut ice-cream with almond flakes. Refreshing coconut taste with crispy almond flakes. Loved to have a second helping!

The King Louis Platter-

Onion rings, wedges , garlic sausages and small serving of greens , served

with sweet and spicy sauce. I am ok with this except the sausages,

they appeared kinda dry and shriveled. A tad salty too , but still

great as a starter before partaking of the main course !

( Thanks to King Louis for including both the Platter and salad for

our food tasting group. Usually for the set, you can choose from

either the platter OR the salad)

Here comes the main star of the night !

Meat galore ~ A great feast for meat lovers!!

There are baby back ribs, roasted english style queen pullet ( chicken)

Lamb steak with rosemary herbs and roast beef with black pepper sauce.

Personally I really enjoyed the chicken ( on the left ) and the baby back ribs

As lighting wasn't excellent, I didn't take photos of all the meat.

I must say being a lamb person, I was quite disappointed with the lamb steak.

My husband and some of the other foodies agreed that the lamb was too tough.

Perhaps it was over cooked? The beef steak was nice but there was a hint of

charred taste , else the texture was good for me.

Premium BBQ Baby back ribs

This was so fork tender and I really love it !

But the sauce may be a tad sweet haaha.

It's as if we all have a separate stomach for dessert! Most of us managed to finish

this delicious coconut ice cream even thou we were very full from dinner !

I am not a coconut fan but managed to scrape everything in the glass!

I can even have a 2nd serving of it!

Check out the poster from King Louis

You can still choose from similar meat platter sets from the menu if you dine there on

other days of the week. They have many different sets for you to choose from !

Once again , thanks to Elly from The King Louis and Openrice for inviting and hosting us!

Shortly after, food was served.
1: Highlander pumpkin soup – I was never keen on pumpkin, however, I found that the soup taste pretty nice. It was thick and creamy, would have polish it off had that not been the first dish
2. English style chicken cesaser salad – nothing to shout about. Just a normal salad that one can find anywhere.
3. The King Louis Platter- Found the sausage skin to be too tough, but otherwise was ok.
4. Meat Platter – contains beef with black pepper sauce , premium bbq baby back ribs, roasted English style chicken, lamb steak with rosemary herbs and veggie selection . Portions were huge. Meant for 4-5 persons, but ours was shared among 6 and yet we couldn’t finish it all. Almost everyone agreed that the roast beef was good, juicy and tender. The lamb steaks were a disappointment thou was it was over cooked and charred. Ribs were tender and sweet, with right amount of fatty parts , just nice for me ! Chicken was good , but we couldn’t do it justice by eating it up coz we were too full by then.
5. Coconut Ice cream with almond bits- Ice cream was a refreshing change from all the meat that we have stuffed ourselves. I wish there were seconds.

If you have a hard time finding this place, look for Daiso, it's right next to it. It has a nice entrance, which makes you think you're walking into a castle. But now that it's october, it has a halloween to it, so there's a skeletons on the POS systems etc. The TV screens are playing some Lancelot movie.. and the sound system was playing KISS 92. Pretty random tbh! The lighting is quite dim as well, which is why if you check out all the photos of this restaurant that customers post on instagram

Pretty random tbh! The lighting is quite dim as well, which is why if you check out all the photos of this restaurant that customers post on instagram, THEY ARE ALL FILTERED!!! kinda ghastly looking pictures imho.

1) Highlandar Pumpkin Soup
I was told that it was made from scratch. There wasn't any lumps in it, but it was very thick, which made me reach for my glass of water several times. The garlic bread was okay, it was the only reason I tasted the soup. The plate was shallow and prolly like 150ml of soup at max, even though the soup bowl was bigger than the salad bowl.

2) English-Style Bacon Caesar Salad / The King Louis Platter
The bacon caesar salad isn't something to rave about, the veggies were okay, the bacon were crispy and there was alot of salad dressing.. def not a low calorie salad.

The king louis platter was a mixture of onion rings, garlic and chicken sausages and wedges. Finger food plater basically. The onion rings and wedges were okay, but for the chicken sausages, one was all shrivelled up and dry, whereas the other one was juicier and pretty good. My table had a debate on whether they were two different sausages, but when asked, the waiter told us they were the same sausage. QC problem? All the finger food was served with sweet chilli sauce.
YAY!

3-7 Queen Isabelle Platter

3) Roasted Beef with Black Pepper Sauce
We asked for medium well, but the 3/5 slices of beef were well and 2/5 were medium well. Pretty upsetting if you ask me, since I will NOT EAT A DESTROYED WELL DONE beef. Anyways, the medium well tasted bitter..

4) Premium BBQ Baby Back Ribs
The meat was pretty tender and soft, I liked it. Best of the 4 proteins! The meat fell off the bones easily.

5) Roasted English- Style Queen Pullet
I asked if the chicken was frozen, and was told it was chilled. The chicken thighs were juicy, however the breast was sooo dry. I don't know why, but if you read other reviews, other people have also mentioned this problem. o_O

6) Lamb Steak with Rosemary Herbs
The lamb tasted lamby..
wish they would've castrated the lamb before killing it!~! Nonetheless, my table loved it more than the dry chicken

7) A Scoop of Ice Cream of the Day
Coconut ice cream with almond flakes on top, they were very generous with the almond flakes. However the flakes were laid ontop of a layer of honey. Which made the ice cream too sweet for my taste. Honey aside, I dug in and I actually enjoyed the coconut ice cream. You would think that for a Halloween feast, they would serve you pumpkin ice cream right? But the coconut icecream with almond flakes was a great way to end the meal

"Hail to the kings" was heard as we strolled into their restaurants. The servers put on with much respect making that moment quite a comfortable and welcoming entrance.

The place is furnished in wooden furniture and atmosphere was close representing the castle with shields / armors and knights around.

While in the castle, one get to enjoy the scenic view of the territory through the posters on their walls.

While waiting for our Kings' meal. I thought this is pretty interesting with King Louis labels over the original brands of the sauces for both Tomato and Chili Sauce.

One can enjoy a bottomless cup (their freeflow of drinks) at a specific rate but no sharing is allowed. For those who ordered their freeflow, they were given a silver cup to differentiate from the usual ones.
And while waiting, we grabbed ourselves some drinks. The spoon for the Rootbeer float looked quite fanciful.

Since we were dining in a group 8 where majority were guys, we ordered a meat platter as well as a seafood platter.
Knight Gawain meal was indeed carnivorous, as the name suggest everyone to dine as a king. The Roasted beef with black pepper sauce was quite hard and I felt that it was overcooked. The meat platter also came with Garlic Chicken Breast with Herbs and spice, Grilled porkloin with mushroom sauce which were suitable for 4 to 5 pax. These slabs of meat were placed over a bed of oven roasted potatoes, mixed vegetables with butter pumpkin sauce, Mesclun & Corn Salad and Pineapple was skewered as well as green apples drizzled with caramel Cinnamon Sauce.

Marinated Boneless Chicken Leg with Onion Sauce looked appetizing with its burnt grilled marks neatly drawn across the slabs of meats. Unlike the roasted beef, the chicken were more tender and juicy.

With slices of green apples poke through the skewers and pineapple as its based, it just could get my eyes off the slimy caramel cinnamon sauce dripping off especially when these fruits looked so outstanding among the carnivorous meal!

Next on our Menu was the Queen Matilda, the seafood favourites! We had Grilled Slipper Lobster with Herbs and if you are wondering what exactly were those grilled slipper lobsters, they were none other than the normal crayfishes we had for BBQ.
Pan-seared snapper with wasabi Mayo Sauce, sauteed scallop with Garlic and cream sauce and big oven-baked king prawns with melted mozzarella cheese were also part of its banquet.
Such portion is good to share with 4 to 5 pax too.

Having such heavy meals, there was no room left for the desserts.
However, it was still a very good experience to dine like the king.

Overall, this is a very good place for group gathering as they have long wooden bench to cater for groups and meat lovers. However, parents might want to take note that there is a big gap on the bench in case that their kids fall into the "hole".

As most people might already know, King Louis is a medieval-themed restaurant featuring castles and knights in armours as part of their decoration. We got the full rack of BBQ Baby Back Ribs to share, with a side of salad with corn and cherry tomatoes, and fries. The ribs were not bad, the meat was nice and tender and well-flavoured. Of course the other star of this dish is the BBQ sauce! The sweetness of the sauce was just right and made the ribs really finger-licking-good
The fries and salad were ok, nothing much to say about them.
