Recently a certain credit card is having a 1-for-1 promotion for its high tea set. I decide to take my mummy to enjoy the promotion since Mothers' Day is just around this month. The place is quite cozy with comfortable sofas and armchairs. Best of all there is not much people. Besides us, there is only 3 more tables are occupied. The set ($33++) comes withAssorted Open Faced SandwichSmoked Salmon with CreamSmall portion of Green SaladSconesChocolate Tart, Rasberry Tart Cheese Cake, MacaroonChocolate SavouriA choice of drink from a selected list on the menu. ($54++ with 2 glasses of Prosecco)For $18++ more, it includes a Chocolate Fondue, served with seasonal fruits and mashmallows. There is also a Japanese Afternoon Tea Set which costs $39++.From the selected drink listI have the Chamomile Tea which is light and refreshing. It is in tea bag form and hot water is refillable. The tea is served with a small jar of honey, if one needs it to sweeten the tea.Mother has the Hot Chocolate which is thick and chocolaty. The food is served in a 3-tier high tea set with jam and Devonshire clotted cream by the side.At the bottom tray, lies Assorted Open Faced Sandwich, Smoked Salmon with Cream, and Small portion of Green Salad in the centre. The sandwich is simple and tasty, especially the one topped with cheese and dried fruit, which has a fruity taste and balance the cheese well. The salad is simple and refreshing. In the middle tray, we have Chocolate Tart, Rasberry Tart, Cheese Cake, Macaroon, and Chocolate Savouri. Cute looking and petite looking. Tasty and not too sweet. At the top tray, it is the Scones, served with juicy strawberries. Although the scones looks hard, but is actually quite soft. Topped with cream and jam, it is very tasty.Overall it is a light and filling meal. Very relaxing place to pass the time. continue reading

My friend bought a drink for me at Sheraton Tower. I ordered the Sheraton Delight. I found the drink very attractive. It was neither in pink, orange but sky blue. I was attracted by its colour. What was even more surprising was the taste. It had the taste of Spirit as Spirit is sweeter than 7-Up. The drink is non-carbonated and yet it is sweet. I believed other colour had added to the transparent Spirit to bring the colour effect. What I asked what others were added, the staff refused to share as it was trade secret. I respect the trade secret. Given me a second choice of drink, I will choose Sheraton Delight again. Cheers! continue reading

For pictures and full review, pls visit:http://madamechewy.wordpress.com/2012/08/16/afternoon-tea-at-the-lobby-sheraton-towers/Since Sheraton Towers Hotel’s Lobby Bar was having a 1 for 1 promotion for afternoon tea, I dropped by with K to give it a try.The Lobby Bar serves English Afternoon tea for $33++ per pax and Japanese Afternoon Tea for $39++ per pax. We paid about only about $19 each; very happy with the bargain! The ambience was cosy and quiet, with ample space between each table for privacy, making it a perfect place to engage in long catch up sessions with girlfriends. Quality and variety of the food was satisfactory, for the amount we paid. The Manager provided good service; but the others were oblivious to customers waving for their attention. As the portion of the afternoon tea set is quite filling, I suggest having a very light lunch before visiting. K was struggling to finish up her share of food. continue reading

Ever since I got to know of a 1-for-1 afternoon tea set promotion by UOB that is going on at Sheraton, I wanted to drop by for high tea and wonder what a three-tier afternoon tea experience would be like. This afternoon tea must be good this time round because Liang Wei felt that the previous one at the Dunearn was a horrible experience (thanks to the coffee). Presentation wise we are not disappointed when the three tiered afternoon tea set with scones, pastries, sandwiches and cakes was placed on our tiny round table. It was a nice visual start. We had the Scones (with Devonshire Clotted Cream and Jam) first, personally, I wasn’t impressed. It wasn’t warm (probably after all the photo-taking) and most importantly, I find it too soft and lacking in flavour, I prefer Dunearn’s one with a crusty outer layer and a soft, fluffy interior. (But what are the real scones like?)Next we have the sweets, the Dark Chocolate Tart received thumbs up from both Liang Wei and Mu Yao, it was delicious indeed. It is a delight for dark chocolate lovers like Liang Wei with rich, dark chocolate that melts in your mouth. The Blueberry Cheesecake was surprisingly good, I wasn’t expecting much at first but the texture was quite smooth and the cheese flavour is just right. The cake has a decent balance.I didn’t try the Raspberry Tart, but Liang Wei felt it was really good. There is this chocolate sponge topped with white chocolate pastry, which I find rather ordinary. Now on to the last tier, the savoury stuff. The Prawn Sandwich topped with Roe was quite good, fresh crunchy prawn on top of slice flavourful toasted bread. Then you have Camenbert Cheese with Dried Fruits.Mini Caprese style sandwich. Some Croissants. And my favourite, the Smoked Salmon ‘Swiss Roll’, not too salty and extremely tasty, I could pop a few more of it if there were more. For tea, we had a pot of Chamomile Tea served with Australian Honey. The tea is probably Lipton tea, the tag was still there when it was served.Liang Wei has a small jar of coffee for himself (which we shared later on)But at the end of the day, I enjoyed this afternoon tea. The garden outside was pleasant to look at and the company was great. The total bill came up to 32.95 SGD with 10% Service Charge and 7% GST. The afternoon tea set for one would cost 28.00 SGD without promotion. continue reading
