All right, so after one round of beers at Medley Amaii Cafe next door, we finally arrived The Merry Men bar, a drinking place by the scenic riverside. Welcome to 86 Robertson Quay, #01-02, Singapore 238245 (Tel: 6732 5057).Another relaxed hangout with quirky furniture imported from all over the world, this place also sets out to capture and captivate the busy, tired working crowd as well as families to hang out at, over good, simple food and delicious drinks. Hence, the "merry" name. Yes, we liked the relaxed ambience already, and friendly patrons. The long-table concept was comfortable, and allowed patrons to mingle with each other, creating a rather amicable atmosphere immediately. Great music, scenic riverviews, merrymakers crowding around smooth tables - this was a non-pretentious place to unwind for sure. No fuss, no muss, just bring your appetites to the party.Drinks-wise, it was Blackforest Mojito for me - a delicious thirst-quencher encompassing my favorite combination of mojitos, chocolate and cherries.Food-wise, we shared a Duck Pizza - thin, crispy slices of pizza piled deliciously with mushrooms, duck, olives and cheese. Every bite was a crispy explosion of flavors. This was truly comfort food for the work-weary souls. For more detailed information and photos, do drop by:http://thearcticstar.blogspot.sg/2014/01/chilling-out-at-merry-men-bar-robertson.html continue reading

Came here for dinner to celebrate our friend's birthday. Honestly, the food was just passable. Their cheese sticks were not worth a mention at all. It was too chewy to swallow.Fish and chips was overly cooked in our opinion. Turns out rather hard.Squid ink pasta was just average as well. Don't think we will patronize here again. continue reading

I bought my girlfriend to the merry men to celebrate our monthly anniversary. They serve western food there. We ordered their truffle fries, beef lasagne and linguine vongole in white wine sauce. The truffle fries are really to die for, you can really taste the truffle flavour. Apparently it is tossed in truffle oil and truffle salt and even the mayo had truffle flavour. It makes you wanna have bite after bite. The beef lasagne was good too, the beef was grounded finely and mixed with tomato sauce. The tomato sauce had the correct acidity then went perfectly well with the beef. The cheese they used was really cheesy and creamy. The vongole dish was awesome. The clams they used were really fresh and the meat was really sweet and chewy. The white wine sauce was really fragrant. We were very satisfied with the meal. Lovely ambience too. continue reading

This was my first visit to Merry Men and the setting was pretty nice. They've got both outdoor and indoor seating. Well, due to the haze, my girls and I chose to sit indoor instead. The service crew were very friendly. Thumbs up for their service. We ordered quite a number of dishes, all finger food though. We had chicken wings, truffle fries, deep fried button mushrooms, fresh clams and mini cheese burgers. The cheese burgers were served with truffle fries, so for those who intend to try both, just order one portion will do. Otherwise you will end up like us having 2 full baskets of fries. The wings were not too bad but the mushrooms were rather blend. The fresh clams on the other hand were pretty awesome because they were salty. For those who are not into salty stuff, you can skip this dish and opt for the mushrooms instead. Overall, it is a nice place for gatherings or to just chill out. continue reading
