His way of marketing his bowls of prawn mee was impressive as I seldom see many hawkers who took so much pride expressing themselves. We order the prawn mee with pork ribs and service was not only friendly but generous. In terms of condiments like chilli powder, soya sauce etc.Pork ribs was cooked to tender and packed with flavour in the prawn mee. Although prawns was not fantastically big, their prawn broth was indeed very tasty. Another side note was that ab article indicating "No MSG" sign was printed and plastered in front of the stall. continue reading

The stall sells hokkien prawn mee with about 8 different combination : the orginal prawn noodle, pork rib noodle with prawns, pork rib noodle, pigtail noodle, pigtail noodle with prawn, pigtail and pork rib noodle with prawn , which are available in 2 different size of serving priced $5 and $7, as well as, big prawn noodle at $8 and big prawn with pigtail noodle at $10. The stall is manned by a friendly fat old man, who recommended me the second choice which is the Pork Rib Noodle with Prawns. The stall is operated in self service style. A unique choice of noodle here is the flat noodle, which I opt for it.For $5, the serving looks really small coming from a hawker centre stall. I have the dry and spicy version which is quite tasty and have lots of crispy deep fried fats. Yummy. Although the soup looks well boiled, but it tastes a bit light for me. Overall quite a tasty dish. continue reading

Decided to try the prawn noodles here as the queue's forever long. The wait wasn't that long, and it was pretty bearable. Plus, the super friendly uncle (I'm guessing he's the owner) goes down the line to take orders to speed things up.I actually wanted the prawn noodle with pig tail but that was already sold out by lunchtime. Instead, I had the prawn noodles with pork ribs. Think it costed about $4. Again, I have to emphasise that the uncle at this stall is soooo friendly. He makes jokes when taking orders, is always smiling and tells you to "take more of whatever you like", be it chilli powder, soya sauce, etc. Such a sweetie. I LOVE good service, especially at a hawker centre!!The prawn noodles were pretty good. The soup was light compared to many others I've tried, and the pork ribs were PACKED with flavour. I could taste the peppery goodness with every bite. Very well-marinated I must say! The prawns on the other hand, weren't that big and there wasn't anything special about them. Overall, it's tasty but I've had much better elsewhere (unless you're talking about the pork ribs alone - now THAT'S special). I wouldn't mind coming back though! continue reading

My love one is an Hokkien Mee & Prawn Noodles lover, so he will been searching on the net...The soup is lighter in colour than the usual dark coloured prawn mee soup i tasted else where..On first sip of the soup, i find it rather bland and not rich in flavor as i expected it to be... could it be that my taste buds have been so spoil by the usual dosage of MSG and hence could no longer appreciate pure natural cooking without it? Or perhaps its my choice of bee hoon that could not bring out the flavor of the soup? I'm not quite sure...However, i must point out that i did not sprinkle their special made chili powder which could enhance the flavor i suppose. This home made chili powder seems to be their specialty as its also for sale...Overall, the soup still taste good but I din like the sliced pork as i find it too fatty... continue reading

Hong Lim Food Centre there many stall food to try out, but every where is crowded long queue. I am very hungry so look for less people queue, come to this prawn noodle stall. I saw the poster is NO MSG, so more healthy. I ordered Pork & Prawn Mee Fen mix with Noodle which the uncle highly recommend to me. Aunty will ask do you wan to separate the soup, cause i take away. I prefer the soup separate. Overall the soup base is nice and have fresh prawn taste. The pork is good enough. Not that hard. It cost me $5. continue reading
