We shared some Cheese and Ham Croquettes, deep fried. The exterior was a crumbly coat opening up to reveal bits of ham and melted cheese. This simple but palatable snack was perfect for munching during tea-time, over coffee or tea. And I really liked how it had the right texture - not too dry, not greasy, but the right level of softness.

The Chai Latte (SGD$6.50) was presented prettily with a cinnamon stick. The beverage was made up of Providore 7 spice Chai powder and steamed milk, giving it a smooth, creamy texture and piquant aroma of Chai. I loved the tinge of spiciness amongst the bittersweetness of the drink.

As for the spanish eggs it was decent, the CHORIZO SAUSAGE wasn't too salty, the sauce was average. For me the coffee left a rather undesirable sour taste.

[Non food related content below]: I went there with a friend for Brunch on a Sunday. I saw an empty table (4-seater) But there were still a Q so we went ahead to join the Q. After about 15mins i asked the staff why is it that we are not given that seat, his answer was that is a 4-seater table and we are only a group of 2 so they can't sit us there. I then told him but there is no one else and we have been waiting for about 15mins and there is an empty table, does it make sense? He then reply because it is a Sunday and they are anticipating crowds and it is management policy.

After waiting for 1/2 hour they finally offered us the 4-seater table, not without telling me that he is making an exception and that he will bear the responsibilities if there is any. If this is really how the management is instructing their staff to operate then i can only say they don't know how to do business, I understand the logic of a 4-seater table is reserve for a group of 4. E.G. in the Q there is a group of 2 and a group of 4 of course you offer 4-seater table to the group of 4 even though they are Q-ing behind the table of 2, but in this case the only person who was behind us was a lady and she is a group of 1. What bothers me is that this restaurant according to the reply of their staff choose to reserve a table for a group of may/may not come customer instead of offering customers who are already there. I have been to many cafes this is definitely the one with the worse customer service, even wild honey's well-known bad reputation is better than them.

I should have left when they gave me such an inflexible excuse. Never will i step into this cafe again.

Diners will never get bored with a myriad of offerings available at different times of the day. Breakfast from 9am-12pm on weekdays and extends till 3pm on weekends showcases primarily artisan breads such as Sourdough Toast and the Open Faced Breakfast BLT all freshly baked from BAO Bakery and free range eggs in their English Breakfast and Spanish Baked Eggs.

Lunch from 12-3pm is straightforward with offerings of gourmet sandwiches and salads from $14.50 while the transition into evening from 3pm onwards is all about Sharing Plates and a choice of Small $14.50, Medium $18.50 and Large $22.50, ideal for communal dining.

Organic Muesli Parfait $12.50

For the health conscious, start your day with The Providore's toasted muesli with shaved coconut. Topped with natural yoghurt, fresh fruit and crunchy roasted almonds, healthy never tasted this good. The cinnamon honey brought it home for me with its thick consistency, sweet yet not cloying aftertaste and full-bodied richness. But the trick ironically is in stirring it all up with the milk and letting it sit for a bit before digging in so that the muesli absorbs all that flavor.

Ricotta Pancakes $17.50

The first item on the menu to catch my eye, pancakes with bananas are almost impossible to resist, especially when those bananas are caramelized and walnuts are candied. Using the label's Yellowbox Honey, which I believe was the same one used in the Muesli Parfait, it was a refreshing change from the usual Maple Syrup.

Pancakes were fluffy and ridiculously light despite its thickness and lapped up all the honey we poured with its pockets of air. Do not be afraid to ask for more honey if your jar runs empty, in fact, we recommend it for a heightened sense of satisfaction with your pancakes.

The entry of The Providore into our brunch scene gives places like Wild Honey a good run for its money. With such a strategic location, I can foresee crowds flocking here especially on the weekends though we hear that it is now already difficult to find a seat if you do not come early. While prices may come across as a little steep, one has to understand that you are paying for its rent in the heart of Orchard Road and the quality produce that goes into every dish on the menu.

So the next time you are in town, you know where to go for some delicious and Instagram-worthy food.

The Roasted New Potatoes with Rosemary and Romesco Sauce was well sauteed and roasted to perfection, its enough to be eaten on its own. Have it, however, with the Romesco sauce for a mild spicy and tangy taste.

The Spatchcock Chicken is a chicken that had their backbone removed so that it can be flattened before roasting it with lemon & thyme, garlic & shallots, verjus & Creme Fraiche sauce. This resulted in a crispy skin and each piece of chicken tasting juicy and flavourful. It is one that must be ordered here!

The Red Velvet Cake had disappointed a bit. The cake did not crumble easily, the taste of the cake were alright, but the taste of butter/cheese was in near absence in the cream used. Nonetheless, the quantity was enough to delight both of us.

You will see Providore straight away if you take the escalator up from the main outdoor area at Mandarin Gallery! Heard about this new cafe before but didn't know it's here. I was immediately attracted to the decor of the place. Nice cosy feel and i was glad when i ended up coming here for dinner on the very same day!

Now the food! I was with another friend and we decided to get 2 items first to try and shared together. Grilled Asparagus wrapped in Prosciutto with poached egg, black truffle vinaigrette & red shiso and Porkloin Involtini.

Grilled asparagus ($18.50) was good. Very fresh and crunchy! Loved the dressing and the poached egg added a lovely touch to the dish. Porkloin Involtini ($22.50) on the other hand was kind of disappointing. Meat was quite dry! But thankfully with the pear & raisin chutney that came with it made it easier to finish the dish.

I ended the night with a cup of flat white ($5) that came with a nice heart shaped coffee art.

Overall it was a good experience and surprisingly it was crowded at all for dinner despite being a long weekend. May find a chance to come back for brunch.

But it's a place i be back anytime if i want to rest at a nice cosy cafe with a cup of coffee =)

Sides can be added at an additional cost, and desserts apart from cake also includes The Providore Gelato which are available with a variety of flavours.

We ordered the Spatchcock Chicken ($22.50). Described as a chicken roasted with lemon and thyme, garlic and shallots, verjus and Creme Fraiche sauce, this was a nice treat. Belonging to the “Large” category on the small plates menu, it comes as two drumsticks and two wings, which makes it good to share with two. The chicken was tenderly roasted and the skin was crispy and crusty with a very sweet yet tangy flavour which made it pretty savoury. There was definitely something citrus-y going on in there and complimented the chicken really well. The garlic and shallot added some aroma to the chicken, which was delightful to have. The only problem we had to deal with was the bones which were seemingly all over the place (maybe I just lack the skills at this). There was a layer of vegetables under the chicken too, and do not leave them out! Coupled with the garnish at the bottom it is indeed seductive in its flavour which leaves you wanting more.

We ordered a side to compliment the chicken, and the Roasted New Potatoes with Rosemary and Romesco Sauce ($9.50) did not disappoint. Crispy skin and hot bite-sized potatoes seasoned with mixed herbs and salt, it was a simple yet alluring dish. While there was a puddle of oil at the bottom of the bowl, it was still generally decent. The Romesco Sauce got us thinking if it Tabasco was involved as it had a tangy taste with tomato puree in it which was pretty decent as well, but I generally prefer any roast potatoes to be left on their own instead of being dipped in sauce.

The Flat White ($5.00) had a medium body and was pretty solid, though the latte art was quite amateur. The Providore uses Toby’s Estate blends, which I find suits my taste pretty perfectly as well.
