The outdoors consist of vintage-Chinese tables and colorful schoolchildren chairs, and the indoors boost backless wooden seats that are comfortable enough for chilling out. I appreciate that despite the space of this cafe, the tables are rather well spaced-out.

My choice of mains was the Corned Beef Hash (SGD$14.00) - comprising of potatoes, corned beef, onions, poached egg, asparagus and a dollop of sour cream. I requested to add Smoked Salmon and it was granted (additional charges but I don't know how much because I did not pay the bill). This dish contains ALL my favorite things - crispy edged potato cubes, corned beef (though the tender version would have been more superb), sweet crunchy asparagus and a large poached egg sitting atop. It was delicious for sure, a very satisfying lunch.

Dessert time came next - not that we were still hungry, but curiosity killed the control, so we shared a slice of Cheesecake (SGD$6.90) that contained of three layers. The cheese flavor was gentle but the texture was rather coarse and hard.

For beverages, I chose a Cuppaccino (SGD$5.00) which came with lovely outlook and was the right amount of bittersweet-ness that I liked, so it made for a good caffeine boost.

I like how all the slightest details in the cafe are consistent with the theme of restaurant. We ordered a Long Black ($4) and Flat White ($5). The coffee was served in old school cups. We found the coffee quite aromatic. The coffee price is quite reasonable I would say. For non-coffee lovers, The Provision Shop also serve up alcoholic beverages such as beer and cider as well as non-alcoholic floats and teas.
Belinda Perogis ($6) was chosen because it looked interesting from the menu. It is actually Polish dumplings filled with mashed potato and cheese. Something like a gnocchi or a tortellini. It is topped with sour cream, bacon and onions. If you would like extra toppings, you can add $1. This dish was served hot. Personally, I adore anything with cheese and thus, I quite like this dish.
The Provision Shop also offers other hot food such as sandwiches, pastas and more. I think there is probably something for everyone.
Overall, I would say The Provision Shop scores in its ambience as well as it's consistency in theme. I guess service is something that can be brushed up on as a warm and welcoming service adds another pull factor to the cafe.

It was a crowded Saturday afternoon at The Provision Shop. Since we only wanted to just try out something small, we settled down at the table outside the cafe since we were not going to stay for long. The cafe decor outside gives a very nostalgic feel with a row of small colourful chairs, and the folding table that we sat at just reminded me of my own one in my house when I was young that we had our meals at, and I remembered I used to hate this table cos it "was very ugly", haha! How time changes the perception between ugly and nostalgic!

My mum who came along with us was staring at the table and saying she missed this old table hahaha! And, I really like the old letterbox! It is only during modern times that I wished things could go back to the old. And it's amazing that just spending a 30 minutes at this cafe brought back lots of fond memories...
Pistachio Creme Brulee

We ordered a Pistachio Creme Brulee ($3.50) to try. I like the burnt caramel layer on top, but after finishing it, I felt I was going to have a tooth decay! The inside texture of the creme brulee is rich and pleasing, with a light pistachio taste. It is sweet, but creme brulee are supposed to be sweet, arent they! It's nice, but very small!

If I am near the vicnity again, I don't mind coming back to try their mains. If not, I would prefer to spend my money and calories to try out other cafes, there are just too many out there!

I ordered a butter croissant ($2.50) and a chicken mozzarella sandwich ($14), in total I spent $16.50. The butter croissant was served hot with a very beautiful vintage looking chinaware. I was told it was homemade by one of their pastry supplier and I love the buttery taste that it left in my mouth.

The chicken mozzarella sandwich was not bad. The bread was toasted with the outside slightly crispy but the inside was a bit soggy. I like the flavorful grilled vegetables and with the smoked paprika aioli, the chicken chucks tasted great. However this sandwich can be a little bit messy to be eaten and portion is a bit small.

Overall I feel that it was a good cafe to bring a book and spend your day away as it is a very cosy and quiet place. On top of that, service here is remarkable with a lot of smiles. Best of all, there is no service charge or GST. However as it's a new establishment, thus the items on the menu I feel is quite limited. Mostly there are only sandwiches, salads and some desserts on the menu. I do hope to see more mains coming up. =)
