I used to like the Fried Prawn Dumpling from this  stall, but after re-visiting this morning, I confirm the quality of food here has dropped, with added bad service.  I had ordered the following for breakfast today:Steamed Yam CakeThe weren't many yam cubes in it, and the sweet sauce over it smelled somewhat "stinky".  Fried Prawn Dumpling/ Fried Beancurd RollThe texture for both items were kind of hard. It might have been due to re-frying of the items (poor supplier since they do not deep-fry these items on the spot). The Fried Beancurd Roll was pathetically lean and unappealing (instant regret upon purchase).   I was glad I didn't order the Giant Fishball, or else it might turn out to be a "giant" disappointment. In addition, I didn't like the attitude of the stallholder. When I asked if they sell Steamed Pumpkin Cake, she replied snidely that they only had the fried version, and attended to the customer behind me! I stood by my rights as the earlier customer and asked for Fried "Wanton". She answered me curtly that they don't sell Fried Wanton, but Fried Prawn Dumpling, and took one out for me. It showed that she knew what I was referring to. Her "sharing of Dim Sum terminology" with customers certainly needs more training!  I'm going to strike this stall off my list. There are other delicious food sold at this foodcourt that's worth my consumption.Total Cost:Steamed Yam Cake + Fried Prawn Dumpling + Fried Beancurd Roll - $2.80.  continue reading

As my favourite chee cheong fun stall did not open, I decided to go to koufu to get my fix of chee cheong fun and yam cake for my breakfast. This costs $1.80. I requested for sauce and chilli to be packed separately as I prefer to have more control over how much sauce to add, plus, it just seemed fresher that way as compared to everything being added at one go and the sauces all getting mixed up on the journey home. For a food court standard, I found the yam cake to be really delicious. It has some chunks of yam in the yam cake which makes it more fragrant and authentic and the yam cake is also soft and not too floury. The yam cake itself is already flavourful, but the chilli and sweet sauce further adds on to the fragrance of the yam cake. The chee cheong fun is of normal standard but I wouldn't mind buying from them again as the yam cake is good. continue reading
