I like Toastbox as it is fuss free and the environment is quite vibrant and bright. The toast is nice, crispy layer with cold unmelted butter slice in between. The teh-c today is not too well done. I guess too much of the evaporated milk is added such that it tasted too milky. The eggs are boiled just the way I liked it to be - runny and not hard. I usually beat one at a time into the plate so that I can slurp it in one mouthful. continue reading

The Breakfast set is Mee Rebus with Barley @ $4.50 or you can option for Nasi Lemak, Curry Chicken, Laksa or Mee Siam with Barley @$5.50. There is also the usual Kaya Toast set.I ordered the laksa and opt for yellow noodles. It comes with pieces of prawn, fish cake and beancurd puff. That day the gravy has the shrimp paste (Belachan) taste but salt was missing. I had to add soya sauce to enhance the taste. The Mee Rebus comes with 1 hard boiled egg, pieces of fried bean curds, fried shallots and green chillie. I found the thick gravy a bit too sweet for my taste. The barley drink that comes with the set, can be hot or cold. The breakfast set is value for money as it cost about $1 more than what you would pay in a hawker center setting. The good thing about this branch is that it open as early as 7.30am and close as late as 3am on Fri, Sat and eve of Public Holiday. Other time it closes at 1am. If you have a local food attack in the night, this is the place to go to in the East. The only complaint is that the table is very small and place very close to each other. It is cramp when it is very crowded. Not a place to sit and chat. continue reading

With $4.50, you can get a local delight (mee rebus / mee siam) & a glass of barley. I think that it is kinda value of money as the serving is quite generous. Though i visited this place during dinner time (weekday), I realised that the toast box at katong mall is not as packed as those at other places. In fact, I can choose my seats and do not have to queue to get my food. Service is quite prompt too. continue reading

I ordered laksa (take-away) from Toastbox in Marine Parade. I think it tasted really good. The soup base is creamy, but not oily and spicy. The noodles were tangy and the ingredients such as fish cake and prawns were fresh. It costs only $4.50 for the meal which was worth the money. continue reading
