Introduction
Tonkichi features a cosy and comfort dining place reminiscent of casual eateries in Japan. The decor is minimal but effective in creating a clean-cut look. The restaurant serves authentic Tonkatsu - the only Tonkatsu Specialty chain restaurant in Singapore. continue reading

Went there for lunch on a weekday, and it was a very relaxed lunch, since they don't have long queue, and the restaurant wasn't really packed.Service is really good and warm. I particularly enjoy their fried pork cutlet and prawns, as well as the cabbage salad with lots of sauce. I don't usually order fried cutlet at Japanese restaurants, because of the greasy taste. Tonkichi is the only place that I always go back to for fried cutlet, because the food doesn't taste greasy, neither too heavy.I find that Tonkichi is quite underrated for the quality of the food. I don't really find the price there expensive, especially when I compare the quality of their food with their casual Japanese dining places. continue reading

Taste: One of the best tonkatsu. The cutlet is very crispy and juicy. Rice and vegetable is free flow.Environment: Nice japanese restaurant design.Service: Service experience is okay.Clean: No problems with the cleanliness.Price: I went to eat this with a deal coupon. They also have a promo on Wednesdays. Without promo or discount, the meals can be quite expensive. continue reading

There was always a long queue at this Tonkichi Restaurant during meal times. When I saw there was a shorter queue, I quickly went to dine there.Since everyone ordered the usual Tonkatsu (deep fried pork fillet), I decided to order something different from the menu.I had ordered Tonkatsu with cheese. When the order came, I thought the tonkatsu does not looked different from others wonder had they gave me the wrong order. So I decided to takeout one piece and there was melted cheese flowing out from the tonkatsu. The outer breaded skin of the tonkatsu was hot, cripsy and fluffy, no oiliness feel. Inside the pork was slightly fatty type, meat was tender and juicy, with flowing melting cheese made overall even juicier! continue reading

Craving for Japanese food, so we went to Tonkichi at Ngee Ann City.We ordered the Hire Katsu Platter, Grilled Fish. It’s fun grating the sesame as the aroma makes you hungrier. Fried pork fillet is crispy and tender and the dip goes well with the mayo. The breaded prawn is fresh and not oily, a squeeze of lemon opens up its flavours.Breaded fried ham roll with vegetable is unique and tasty.Lastly the grilled fish is skinny, dry and not really appetizing.. even with the lemon squeeze , it becomes “lemon fish”. continue reading

This restaurant is actually owns by Pokka brand and i expected high standard from them since it is japan operated restaurant.Had this pork loin katsu set($30+ after gst and service charge). Before the food is serve, the waitress gave me a bowl and motar with white sesame in it.This to grind the white sesame for the dipping sauce. This katsu set come with free flow of rice and cabbage which is worth it for any big eater. The katsu is in a thick slices and coated with fluffy breadcrumbs.Despite deep fried, the katsu is very tender and soft as it will literally melts in your mouth. The katsu set come with different sauces like the ponzu, vinegar, salsa sauce. continue reading
