CRÈME BRÛLÉE is slightly burnt.

Overall, a chat over tea here at TWG is a great place to be.

I love having a tea session at TWG. Their hundreds of selection of tea makes it super tough to choose just one or two and they have lovely desserts to choose from. One of my favourite dessert there is their creme brulee. This is because the custard is not just any normal custard - they're tea-infused custard! One of them is Phuguri Darjeeling and the other is Vanilla Bourbon Tea. Fragrant and light and a must try!

The only things that I have tried here are the pastries and I always do takeaway. Having been supporting TWG since its first outlet at Republic Plaza, I am glad to say that the quality of their pastries have remained consistent even after so many years. I am not over-exaggerating when I said that I have tried nearly all their cakes and is recognised as the "girl who always buy cakes". However, I am still trying out new stuff because the selection is always ever-changing.

The patisseries at TWG there rarely disappoint and I would dare say that it is the only place in Singapore that matches those in Paris or Japan. ( I was surprised when I walked past one branch in Jiyugaoka). Why? Simply because the pastries have textuality, technicality, creativity and of course flavours.

Most of the pastries at TWG are mousse cakes besides tarts. What impresses me is that the texture of the mousse is always just right while the sponge remains moist (perhaps some have been soaked in liquids). Fruit compotes of different berries ( raspberry/blueberry/cassis) are usually very sour which curbs the creaminess from other components. The tart shell has remained consistently crispy so far. While I can't say that every single piece I've tried is 100% perfect, I appreciate the chef's efforts to keep on inventing, playing with the flavours, textures and presentation. It is hard to spot a classic pastry here (perhaps the millefeuille or the signature chocolate fondant) but it is still possible to find new flavours in their classic pastries.

I doubt what I have commented will be readily available since the selection keeps changing. Amazed by the rapid expansion of this Singapore tea brand in Singapore and overseas in such a short period of time, it will be interesting to see what new exciting flavours TWG will offer in future.

Went to high tea with friends after finishing preparing for the presentation at TWG.The environment of the shop was very comfort and peace. It was a nice place to have chit chat with friends. Highly recommended this shop. This was not my first time visit to this shop. And it never disappointed me. I had ordered the creme brûlée. The creme brûlée tasted very nice!! I like the crispy and cruncy outer layer. And the sweetness of the dish was just nice also.

TWG stands for the “The Wellness Group”. I can go in there feeling like c*** and walk out feeling…well, well again! This is a phenomenon caused by fine tea and sweets XD

The list of teas available is mind-boggling, there is a menu for the name and price of the tea, and an encyclopedia for the description of the teas. You can have the teas hot or cold.

Hot teas are served in an insulated pot and it is not refillable. Hot flower teas are served in a glass pot and it is refillable only once. Cold teas are served in a huge glass, with separate small container of syrup, and is not refillable. The amount of tea in a pot and in the glass is the same, although the pot looks bigger (I have checked with the staff about this).

No wonder why so many people have been buying their macarons in this high tea house. After I tried it my first time, I actually revisit this outlet for quite a few times just to buy their macarons back to share with my family members. The round biscuits are very crunchy and thick in chocolate flavour. The dark chocolate cream inside the round biscuits are also very creamy and not too sweet. The portion may look really small, but the taste is definitely yummy!

There are two TWG outlets in ION Ochard itself, one is open-concept kind of, the other one is like a glass house, both of which are classically designed in the golden bling bling appearance. The service is awesome and the setting is gorgeous too. This time round I only ordered the tea and some bites. The Jasmine Kiss is a kind of flower tea, beautifully 'swim' in the glass pot. It's very aromatic and has a pleasant fragrant. The Scones with tea jelly and whipped cream is a must try at all time!

The environment here at TWG is really comfortable and cosy. However I was quite disappointed with their muffins eventhough they may actually have one of the best English tea and coffee in town. It is truly a tea-lover's paradise there, with its plethora of flavours that smelled heavenly; just one whiff could evoke pleasant and flighty thoughts. The staff recommended Sweet France, which drew us in with its perfumed, flowery fragrance that truly reminds us of summer. We needed a complete opposite type to balanced the floral notes of our first choice and they recommended Weekend in Shanghai, a strong and heady oriental tea. Both when brewed were lovely, but my vote goes to Weekend in Shanghai because I love its deeper, lingering scent after each sip. K's love for it is apparent as well, as she bought a pack of it to slowly savour it at home/office! The thoughtfulness of this tea house only goes to show its passion towards tea drinking, where each pot of tea is encased in a metal casing to keep the tea at the right temperature for consumption.

We couldn't just have tea without any accompaniments. Not if this place offered tea infused desserts, that will compliment the entire tea-drinking experience. The TWG Chocolate fondant was this luscious and decadent slice of chocolate cake that was infused with vanilla bourbon tea and had a generous dollop of ice-cream smack right on top of it. The taste was this sweet blend of caramel, chocolate and tea that was a pleasant change from another warm chocolate molten cake.

The pastry trolley held several other types of cakes and tarts, where all of them looked delectable and screamed "pick me!". The raspberry tart was topped with the lightly-sugared fruit, which tartness helped cut the sweetness of the pastry. It was unfortunately a bit too soft and dense for my liking. In addition, I couldn't really identified the tea infused in this dessert. Or maybe it was just my confused palate after all that tea tasting.

It was nevertheless a lovely way to spend an afternoon with a good friend and in the most chi-chi style ever. The old style grandeur and class of this place does transport you to another world altogether, making you feel as if you were teleported back to that particular era. Now I just have to slowly (but surely!) conquer and try the rest of the dizzying array of tea there.

Their tea infused cake was pretty weird. On the whole, it tasted somehow sour, bitter and a little sweet. Not at all to our liking. Apparently, all tables have a pot of tea, we ordered as well. When questioned which tea would they recommend, they pointed silvermoon & sweet jade. It taste alright. Smells a little like bubble gum. Not at all sweet though. Service wise, i would say Taka branch is better!
