I ordered the lunch set, Tom Yum Chicken Ramen with fried gyoza as the side dish. My friend had the same but ordered a different side dish - spring rolls and we would share the two sides.

Waited quite a while for the food to arrive. The overall taste of the dish was fine and they was quite generous with the chicken meat. However i hoped that the dish was more sour but it was not to be the case.

The side dishes were a nice addition to the meal.

Despite its name, Udon King offers a wide range of international menu items that includes thai, korean among other. Good for big groups of people who have different cravings.

For the lunch set meal ($9-10 depending on which main course selected) consisting of a main dish, side and drink, it is a good deal.

I have always preferred thick noodles over thinner noodles & this is probably the reason why I love udons. So I was pretty excited to try out Udon King. You know how Japanese restaurants always showcase their food in plastic/ceramic forms? As a curry fanatic, I've ordered the Thailand Green Curry Chicken Drumlet Udon Set ($15.90). This set comes with a drink and a side dish of your choice.

Despite mixed reviews about this dish, I personally think that's it's one of the best green curries I've ever tried (and I've tried a lot because I love curries). The udon were soft & springy and gravy simmered to perfection at the right consistency with the right flavour explosion of sweet & spicy. So if there's bad review elsewhere, it may probably be due to the consistency? But I know the one I had was really awesome.

My friend also ordered the Japanese Moonlight Potk Sukiyaki Udon Set ($14.90). The set also comes with drink and side dish of our choice. He was apparently quite hungry & start eating before I could snap a picture. But he told me that he only liked the udon.

So our sets came with these below. The Chicken Cutlet were typical and possibly need a little more seasoning to the coat. The Gyoza was tasty, crispy on the outside filled with generous fillings on the inside.

And the reason why they have the words "World House" in its name is probably because they include regional offerings of Japanese, Korean, Thailand, Malaysia and some Singaporean flavours. My first impression of its Thailand dish was great & I do hope that they maintain the same standards as that day I've visited.

I ordered the green curry chicken and it was not very good. The soup was bland and did not have much of a kick. There was hardly any spiciness and somehow tasted too milky. The chicken was tender but there was not much taste, possibly due to the poor soup. Thankfully, the noodles were soft. I ordered the lemon tea to go with the meal and sadly, it was very diluted. Overall, not a good experience at this place. I cannot comprehend why there was a queue. Hmm.

Do not be fooled by the plastic replicas of the food dishes shown on display. What we had were nothing like those. Well, of course there is always a disclaimer somewhere that what is shown might not be representative of your actual food....which is so true. Another thing to add... I thought the place sells udon but from the menu, it seems to be mostly a hodge-podge of other japanese and asian meals. There were hardly any udon dishes available, sadly.

Out of everything we had, the gyoza was the best item. It was crispy and the filling quite tasty. Unfortunately, there is absolutely no dip to go with it. We asked the waitress whether there's any Mayo or vinegar for dipping the gyozas in and she just said "No" unapologetically. In fact, she seemed a bit puzzled by our question. Oh well, most other places selling gyozas will have dipping sauces! (vinegar usually)

- Gyoza

Arghhh this is a very horrible dish. With the name of the dish (butter clams), we did not expect this watery rendition. In fact, there's no butter taste! The clams were rubbery and the soup (if you can still call it that) was bitter. Maybe they put too much wine or something in it?? Anyway, it was hardly palatable. My poor friend had a really hard time trying to finish it.

The Penang assam noodles tasted ordinary. It was a bit too much on the sweet side. By the end of the meal, you actually get this feeling that the soup base might have been made from canned sardines sauces...

The chili soft shell crab was not too bad. The crab was quite crispy and tasty. The sauce could be spicier though. It had a bit more ketchup than I would have liked. Although generally it still went well with the crab. The noodles were a bit soggy though - you can tell from a bit of water left at the bottom of the dish that the chef did not remove the water from the noodles properly. Most likely done by someone who doesn't bother how the noodles are cooked.

Speaking about the chef, I saw her cooking noodles and yakking away on the phone at the same time. Service from the wait staff was poor too. The waiter practically shoved the dishes beneath us.

We left the restaurant feeling totally unsatisfied. Highly recommended NOT to try this place.

This ramen place located in the suburbs area in Ang Mo Kio has lots of variety to choose from. You can choose your ramen soup. I ordered the tomato based fried chicken karaage ramen which my friend ordered the kimchi ramen. I thought it was really salty though. My friend had the same opinion. The set pricing was still worth it though but didn’t really fancy the taste of the food. Perhaps some improvements could be made. trying out the not-long-open 'udon king' the environment of the restaurant was pretty and nicely design. service was quite fast, trying out some dishes. but sad to say their portion is not very big and in fact not worth the money. it may seems very delicious by standing outside seeing their display outside. but i think overall the food was soso, and i wont go back for revisit unless special promotion.
