Son went camping so we didn't cook today and plan to have a simple dinner at Uncle Leong.

I tried their food 2 months ago and it is good so tot why not brought my family to try.

We reached there at 8pm. The restaurant is only 30% occupied, as only 3 adults and 1 child we just ordered a medium bee hoon, their famous mee goreng and coffee pork ribs.

If come with a big bowl of peanuts before serving. Food came in within 10mins...

Beehoon with gravy are too blend no taste at all, very disappointing.

Mee goreng not spicy enough and a bit too sweet, not what I like, feeling sad already.

Pork ribs is not even hot, like put in the kitchen for a long while. This is super disappointing.

Went I comments to the waitress about their dishes, she mentioned that if I come next time I should tell them before hand.

I told her frankly that I will not want to come again anymore...

Mother in law said that peanuts are the best dish after all. lol...

Total we spend about S$42 with 3 drinks, their drink are not expensive though only S$2 per cup.

The must order dish at Uncle Leong's, the chilli crab. The crab is huge with huge crab claws and the fresh of the meat is sweet and tasty, best recommended to take this chilli crab with fried mantou.. The fried mantou goes well with the chili crab sauce, a perfect match.

It's my friend's 25th birthday and the good thing about us, is our never ending love for seafood. Oftentimes, we would have crabs or prawns for special occasions. So this time we're in search for a really good seafood restaurant to dine in.

My friend mentioned about the creamy butter crab she tried at Uncle Leong Seafood before and wanted the rest of us to try it for ourselves. Uncle Leong Seafood has just moved in to Punggol so it's quite near for us living in the East.

We were there for the crabs so we ordered the Crab Bee Hoon and the Shimmering Golden Sand Crab Delight.

The shimmering sand crab was what we had all came for to try. It has a very thick creamy sauce and after the first taste, I found myself getting quite addicted to it! The sauce was lightly flavored with hints of laksa leaves, white pepper, butter and cream. It was a little spicy and sweet but not too much. And yeah, we finished all two orders of it! IT WAS INDEED SO DELICIOUS! *jaws dropping*.

The crab bee hoon on the other hand, was just okay. The broth was sweet with essence of crab but its just too milky and sweet for me. The crab was well cooked and plenty of bee hoon to go around. My friends liked the bee hoon though but, not for me.

Nonetheless, the most important thing was that Uncle Leong's crabs made all of us a happy diner. For me, that shimmering creamy sand crab was really quite unforgettable and I can't wait to have another crab feast again!

It is quite eye-catching as you will be able to see it when you enter. The dishes at Uncle Leong that left me an impression, in particularly the Shimmering Sand crab and Crab Bee Hoon. Their signature dishes. The crabs were huge though. What I loved about the Shimmering Sand crab was the light-textured sauce and the oat that was sprinkled on top of it . I actually scooped some sauce into my bowl and was dipping my crab in the sauce the whole time when I was having it. The other Crab dish that I left me satisfied was the Crab Been Hoon. The soup was flavourful with the sweetness of the crab. Other dishes that I liked was the Deep Fried Tofu. It was really fragrant and tasty. I left with a satisfied tummy. No doubt that I will be back there again. Perhaps to try their other crab dishes.

I was very lucky to be invited to the food tasting session at Uncle Leong Seafood at Tebing Lane. I reached there 20 minutes earlier than expected. Hence, I went to take a look at the surroundings. I was quite surprised to see that there are quite a number of places for food and also of entertainment purposes. There are prawn fishing and indoor soccer fields around that area. I was also amazed that there is a river nearby. It was indeed a perfect destination for relaxing and enjoying.

After everyone arrived and greeting were made, the dishes were ready to be served. Some of their signature dishes include, Shimmering Sand Crab, Crab Bee Hoon Soup, Fortune Chicken, Guinness Pork Ribs,Deep Fried Beancurd.

My favourite dish is Crab Bee Hoon Soup. As a big fan of the normal hawker fish bee hoon soup, I definitely would not miss this dish. What more can I say? The soup broth is amazingly smooth and milky, with a slight fragrance of the crab. The bee hoon is nicely cooked, perfect for slurping it down with the soup broth. Unfortunately, there is another dish Shimmering Sand Crab, thus as compared, the crab seems more normal-tasting. However, the dish is still delicious overall.

Next, the Shimmering Sand Crab! I have eaten many types of crab such as Chilli Crab, Black Pepper Crab etc. But... this dish is just stunning and leaves me a deep impression. The light cream sauce is made up of butter, white pepper and curry leaves. It is like a perfect combination with the crab. Also as the owner's creation, this dish is a must-try!

Other than crab dishes, the steamed Red Garoupa is also very fresh and the meat is tender. They also served us with light desserts such as Yam Paste and Longan Sea Coconut. The desserts were like saviors to our stomachs after a heavy sumptuous meal. I would definitely recommend Uncle Leong Seafood to my family and friends!

Being one of the invited guest by OpenRice to have a food tasting session at Uncle Leong Seafood restaurant, this is my first time eating over at this place. Finding this place is not difficult as it is within walking distance from Riviera LRT (PE4) station Exit A.

To be truthful, Before going for this food tasting (Did some homework), I did tried to find some past reviews on this restaurant but gather some bad reviews giving me a lower expectation of this food tasting session.

When I first reached the place, it is quite interesting to find that it is just next to a prawning place (Hai Bin Punggol Prawning) so it would be a nice place for a whole day of activity cum having your meals taken care of when you are there.

Anyway, back to their dishes:

Shimmering Sand Crab - One of the best cooking style I have eaten so far. This is a milky type of cooking style with some added pepper onto it. The crab given is also big in size while the meat itself is very fresh and nice if eaten together with the sauce. Too bad there are no buns during the food taste else, the bun will sure goes very well with the sauce too. (Highly recommended)

Crab Bee Hoon Soup - The milky soup base taste great and when eaten together with their bee hoon, you will just can't get enough of their great taste. I read from other reviews that they allow refilling of their soup and bee hoon (at a cost) so be prepare that you will do the same too. The crab being used here is also very big in size so I have a very good impression of these. (Highly recommended)

Fortune Chicken - The chicken is being boiled together with some herbal allowing the meat to be fused with it. There is a nice ginseng after taste when you drink the soup while the chicken meat is very soft and tender through long hours of cooking. Good job. (Not very nice for those who hate ginseng taste)

Guinness Pork Ribs - The ribs are being mixed and marinated together with Stout beer (I think there are some honey too) together with other ingredients. Meat itself is just nice and it is quite sweet without the stout taste. Nice to goes together with the rice.

'Chye Poh' Fish - Red Garoupa are being used to cook this dish and I am quite impress with the taste of it as there are no fishy taste (Means very fresh) and together with those pre-fried Chye Poh over the fish, the over taste is being enhanced.

Chinese Spinach With Eggs - I am not a vegetable type of person but I can say this dish is nice as I can see my girlfriend eating quite a lot of it.

Signature Deep Fried Beancurd - Beancurd are being mashed to smaller pieces before mixing them together into rectangular shape again and deep frying it to golden crisp. To me, I think this dish is a bit too salty but I hear from some of the food taster that it is nice to eat so I think it depends on your own opinion.

We are given 2 dessert at the end of the course Mainly "Sea coconut with Logan" and "Yam paste" Sea coconut is actually quite normal and refreshing and the Yam paste is nice without those dry after taste feeling.

Over all, this is a very good food tasting session as it change my mindset of what other people had reviewed on this restaurant. The services we received are quite nice but too bad they did not provide lime water for washing our hands at the tables (There are washing basin at designated location) and they tried to change our plates only after we had finished our food and are quite full by then. (Would be great if they had changed earlier as our plates are quite messy with all those crabs shell)

Thanks OpenRice and Uncle Leong for this great tasting session

If you are big fans of crab, you won't stop with just one crab dish of course. Another highly recommended crab dish is the Claypot Crab Bee Hoon Soup. The soup broth has the natural sweetness from the seafood, it looks creamy and rich but in fact it's quite light and tasty to sip on.

Guinness Pork Ribs is one of my favourite dish. The juicy tender pork ribs are glazed in the caramelized Guinness beer, beautifully presented with a subtle flavour.

Deep Fried Beancurd is yummy too. The homemade tofu is a blend of tofu with fish and prawn paste, steamed to set before deep-fried to give the crispy texture. Moreover, the lemony sauce matches the tofu perfectly.

Fortune Chicken is pretty alright. The chicken is stewed with lots of Chinese herbs, precious ingredients such as Chinese mushroom, sea cucumber, fish maw, abalone pearl etc. Very comforting and satisfying.

Chinese Spinach with Eggs is pretty ordinary. The gravy is cooked with three different types of eggs: duck egg, chicken egg and century egg. The dish is finalized with some deep-fried white baits on top to give an extra crispiness.

The meal ended with the dessert: Yam paste. The yam paste is well-done, smooth and of good flavour. However, the sauce that goes with it is slightly too sweet, and I reckon that affects our taste on the authentic yam flavour.

The tofu was a combination of seafood and beancurd lightly pan fried to golden brown. The texture is soft and suitable for both children and elderly folks. It look like pieces of gold bar which is Auspicious to order during Chinese New Year. To me the taste of this dish is average and dipping the tofu into the plum sauce greatly enhanced it.

The Spinach is cooked with 3 types of Eggs. The chicken Egg helps to thicken and gives a smooth gravy. The Salted egg and Century Egg gives it a contrasting taste and texture. It has crispy Anchovies sprinkle on top for added dimension.

The Steam Red Garoupa with Chye Poh (Preserved Vegetables) has a light Soya Sauce and sprinkle with light golden brown crunchy chye poh. This dish could be improved if more ginger is used when steaming the fish. This will help get rid of the slightly fishing taste.

The pan-fried pork ribs is tender and nicely fried with a thin batter coating. Then a yummy liquid black gold sauce made from Guinness Stout coats the pork ribs. This is one of the best Guinness Pork Ribs that I have tasted.

This dishes looks like a relaxing crab sitting in a Sauna Bath with it claws up in the air. It look pretty impressive and the taste matches it. This Claypot Crab Bee Hoon Soup has a sweet and tasty broth made from the crab and served with thick Bee Hoon. It can be a meal by itself.

Their Signature Crab is the Shimmering Sand Crab Delight. It is a light creamy sauce made of butter, white pepper and curry leaves. It is sprinkle with oats which gives it a sandy look. This is the owner Uncle Leong's creation. I like that the sauce is not a heavy based cream and the curry leaves and oat add a nice touch to the dish.

We were served with 2 types of desserts. Yam Paste with Gingko and Longan with Sea Coconut. I found the Yam Paste too sweet, especially the coconut milk.

Service
The service could be improved if they provide finger bowls when serving crabs dishes instead of just wet tissue. They should change plates for each customer half way during the meals and not at the end of the meals.

Overall their Signature and Recommended dishes are very well cooked and executed but the other dishes we tasted were average to me. They seem to specialized in Crab dishes. I noticed one of the table nearby ordering Black Pepper Crab which looks very good. Even the boss son Jeff mentioned they do a very good Chili Crab. He was attentive and receptivity to our comments and suggestion for improvement.

As a suggestion for more business, they could create a Special Crab Banquet Menu with their Signature Crab dish and other dishes using crab meat at Reasonable Price . I am sure it will be popular with those Crab lovers in Singapore.

We enjoyed the food very much that we ordered Fried Mee Sua and Guinness Pork Rib as takeaway for our parents to try. We paid for our takeaway.

Thanks to the Generousity of Uncle Leong and OpenRice, I found another Seafood Place where I can take my family and overseas visitors.

The weather was good for some good and fresh seafood (clay pot crab beehoon especially!) and so the choice is to go to Uncle Leong Seafood for their famous clay pot crab beehoon!

The menu for the day:
1)Shimmering Sand Crab
2)Crab Bee Hoon Soup
3)Fortune Chicken
4)Guiness Pork Ribs
5)'Chye Poh' Fish
6)Chinese Spinach With Eggs
7)Signature Deep Fried Beancurd

My favorite among all the dishes gotta be the Shimmering Crab. The buttery sauce is so good and goes well with my rice. The taste is a little peppery but not too strong to cover the crab taste. The crab itself is fresh and huge. Will be back again to try the different cooking style of their crabs!

The soup base of the crab bee hoon is awesome too. The soup base has soak in the sweetness taste of the crab and it is super addictive. We finished the soup and there's still leftover of the beehoon, so you know how good it is.

I am a person who is afraid of fishy taste but the fish serve in Uncle Leong is so fresh and tender, different from what is served outside with very thick fishy smell.

Overall, I feel that all the dishes served that night is really up to how a tze char restaurant standard should have. Even though the location is quite far from me but thankfully the restaurant is near to the LRT station (riviera) and is within 5-10mins walking time.

There's indoor and alfresco seats available but it is advisable to call up for reservations to avoid long waiting time as the restaurant filled up quite fast. The servers there are polite (at least those I met) and are quite prompt to your request.

One of the signature dish that you really have to try. The soup is really thick and it fills your whole mouth with the aroma of the crab and it really match with the thick bee hoon. The gravy is thick but not too salty and it comes with the aroma of the salted egg and century egg. The coffee pork ribs is very tasty with a mild flavor of coffee.Really goes well with white rice.
