Went for golf and had dinner at the Orchid country club -Vanda restaurant. They happened to be having a BBQ buffet which cost $35++ per pax. The meat for selection includes, beef, black pepper rack of lamb, chicken chop, chicken wings, tiger prawns etc. they have 4 chefs at 2 BBQ pits, BBQ live on the spot for the meat. Apart from BBQ meat, there are also cooked food such as fried rice, fried vegetables, spaghetti , salads etc. there are also various sauce provided for dipping the meat, such as mint, BBQ, thousand island, mustard sauce etc. the salad is fresh and there are quite a variety of selection to choose from such as kidney beans, tomatoes etc. I like the BBQ chicken wings, chicken chop and rack f lamb best. The prawns are a bit dry and the meat stick to the shell, the beef is too thinly slice, would be better is it is thick beef steak. The restaurant have a full view of the driving range which greenery is quite pleasing to the eyes. Overall, quite a good place to gather with friends and relax after golf.  continue reading

Had a simple affordable buffet lunch ($20 per adult) at this cosy spacious restaurant. THe service here is friendly and fast in clearing the plates from my table. Enjoy their fried bananas which are very crispy and not too oily. Is sweet and flavourful. THe Chinese rojak was abit too dry and the fried you tiao was abit too dry and hard in texture. Ice kachang was delicious as the evaporated milk is fragrant and the green jelly strips are chewy and not too sweet. Yummy buffet and cheap too. continue reading

I visited the restaurant to taste the local hawker food. There are wide range of food from mild to spicy taste. It has popiah, laksa, meee sian, chicken rice, DIY rojak, carrot cake, oyster omelete, satay. The restaurant is facing the golfing field so it is a good place for relaxation and diining. The taste is above expectation but the good one will be the children rice but not haninans chicken and the hand made noodle. The soup which goes with the hand made noodle has mushroom so it makes the soup tastes fine. continue reading

Vanda Terrace is located at the Golf Clubhouse of Orchid Country Club. Orchid Country Club (OCC) was opened by the late Mr Ong Teng Cheong in 1991 who mooted the idea of developing a golf and country club for workers. Today, it is a wonderland of social, recreational and entertainment facilities. OCC provides a free Shuttle Bus Service from Yishun MRT Station to the country club. The OCC Shuttle Bus Service schedule can be found here.Vanda Terrace is an alfresco-style dining outlet that serves local cuisine.Part of the section is closed for OCC members only. For OCC members, they will be a 10% discount and waiver of 10% service charge.Despite it being an outdoor environment, the place was well-ventilated as there were many ceiling fans. In addition, customers can just relax and enjoy a good view of the golf course.During that night, there was a live band! What a way to relax and bask in the relaxed atmosphere. Thumbs up. Kee Chiu!Selected sections of the menu that includes soup, light bites, local fares and desserts. The Oriental Style Chicken Wings was well-marinated and cooked. There were very crispy. However, it was a tad too oily. And I felt that the chicken wings were not meaty enough to justify this price. The Laksa Paradise consist of ingredients such as thick beehoon, prawns, cockles, fish cake slices, chicken, quail eggs, bean sprouts and dried beancurd. The Bitter Gourd Seafood Hor Fun (Hor Fan) consist of flat rice noodles served with prawns, squid, fish slices and sliced bitter gourds. This is a very decent plate of Hor Fan. The squids were overcooked and was hard. On the other hand, the prawns were very fresh (firm, sweet and juicy). In addition, the sauce was delicious! It would have been more perfect if the slices of bitter gourd were softer. The Chin Chow was served with shaved ice and atap seeds. A good way to cool down and relax after the meal.Overall, Vanda Terrace certainly provides a very nice cozy ambience. The food here is actually not bad (good). In terms of pricing, it is slightly more expensive after all this is a country club. At least you do not get lousy food at expensive price. Over here, the food is good! For myself, I know that I will definitely be back!On a side note, I have tried their Chicken Rice ages ago (5 years). It was very good, but it is available only during lunch time. Visited this restaurant for brunch with my mum several days ago, and we had a pleasant dining experience. I ordered prawn mee soup and teh tarik, while my mum had the nasi lemak, which is very special, and teh tarik alia. The breakfast only ends at 11am, and you can only order their non-breakfast items at 11am on the dot. The prawn mee soup had a very good soup broth, and was a big portion, so do come with an empty tummy! The teh tarik was very good, as it was just the right amount of sweetness, not too sweet, not bland. My mum's nasi lemak was extremely good, as it had quite a lots of different sides, especially the satay, which was tender and very flavourful. continue reading
