Friends strong recommendation to visit Victors Kitchen. Aleast try then to regret later, ha. Places is easy to find and near entrance and left turn. The space is quite squeezed and old fashion. Prepare to share seats like Hong Kong style and possible not my taste. Start ordering was easy from menu stick and stick. We ordered Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf, Lava bao , chicken frets, BBQ Pork noodle rolls , carrot cake with XO sources , spinach dumplings and Milk Tea. The services is not so nice and active compared other Tim Sum customer service possible to insufficient and space. Taste of Lava bao is very good and not too salty. A lot of customer orders also. BBQ Pork Noodle Rolls is normal but spinach dumplings is fastantic but skin seem a little thick. Carrots cake with XO source make a difference and different from other resturant. Ending with milk tea which I found it shoik and it is strong taste than watery. Solid and not too sweet. Overall I recommend Spinach dumplings and Lava Bao. Another outlet at Chinatown which post on the wall if you like to try.  continue reading

I have heard so much about Victor's Kitchen and had pass by this cafe many times. Finally, after so many years, i get to try their famous dim sum. Located in Sunshine plaza, along side with the famous parklane wanton noodle, this cafe is always packed with customers especially during meal hours and weekend. If you are willing to wait, which waiting hour could be quite long, then you get to chance to taste their wonderful handmade dim sum.HK Summer Iced Tea (冰镇奶茶) $3.20 - Smooth in texture and rich in flavour. This is their famous iced milk tea. The ratio of tea and milk are in right proportion which i like, with acceptable sweetness. The cup of tea is place in a bowl of ice so that the ice will not dilute the drink and affect its taste. Very considerate thought for the customers. Golden Egg Yolk Lava Buns (黄金流沙包) $4.80 - BestsellerOne of their bestseller, the salted egg yolk oozed out from the bun when you take a bite at it. Savoury, buttery and rich in flavour. The buns are fluffy and soft in texture. It is really nice to eat with the filling in it. These buns are a must try. Oozing egg yolk in action!!!!!Siew Mai $4.80 - 4 pieces of pork filled dumplings. The pork are juicy and sweet and the fillings are quite generous considered that it is wrapped thinly. Yummy!! I would recommend this dish. Victor's King Prawn Dumpling (超级虾饺皇) $5.20 - This is another must try dish. The dumplings were sweet and crunchy, it is also filled with 2 whole BIG prawns wrapped within the dumpling!! Wow!!! Usually, most Har Kao are wrapped with 1 or 1 & half prawn in it. Hence, this is really a surprise and enjoyment to me.Chili Specialty - Don't be deceived by it's look, this is really spicy. I guess it is made up of dry chili and garlic and blend together? LOL, try it yourself. Steamed Carrot Cake w/ XO Sauce (XO酱干贝腊味蒸萝卜糕) $4.80 - This is one of their specialty dish. On the outside, the steamed carrot cake look like paste. However, after u cut it open, strands of carrots slices lay underneath the paste. This diminished the overall texture of this dish. I only like the upper layer of the paste. Although the strands of carrot are soft, but it just don't match with the texture. Really disappointed. Light soy sauce are poured over the carrot cake for flavour,Prawn Chee Cheong Fun $4.80 - 3 prawns in each rolls with light soy sauce pour over it.Golden "Bo Lo" Char Siew Butter Buns (菠萝蜜汁叉烧包)$5.20 - A new item on the menu. You can really smell the butter when it is served hot. Crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy inside. The buns are filled with chunky pork meat fillings.Did you see the chunky pork meat in the bun???Nemo's Porridge $4.80 - Sliced fish with preserved egg porridge. A bit bland in flavour but it comes with generous serving of sliced fish and eggs. Porridge are cooked till slightly thicken and mushy texture. Verdict 3.5 /5Well, i wasn't expected much since i heard that the standard of food drop drastically. I feel that most of the food here are edible but nothing fantastic. I like the "Bo Lo" Char Siew Butter Buns served here as it is really delicious and fragrant while serve hot. The ice milk tea is also tasty and smoothing. The service i receive wasn't that great too. For me as a first timer, the "auntie" simply place the order form on the table and leave without any instructions. So i ordered the food that i like to have and "seek" someone to attend to me. The time that i went was after 2pm, after lunch hour, hence by right shouldn't have much difficulty seeking for attention. But it prove otherwise.Despite all, i still feel that you should come and visit here if you have not done so. I will visit here again if i really have an urge to eat the dim sum. continue reading

Most people come here for their famous Liu Sha Bao. It is really good as it taste of salted egg and is runny as expected! The others are so so. The place is really cramped. They should have expanded to make the space more roomy. It feels really uncomfortable sitting in a very tight space as the owner tries to max his space. Service is quite fast but messy. Next to us, they delivered the wrong staff to the guest for several occassions. When making payment, it is also messy. They charged us for drink we did not order and had to ask for refund. So better check your bills to ensure it tallies before leaving.  continue reading

There used to be snaky queues lining up outside Victor's Kitchen even before its operation hours but during my recent visit , there was a signage placed in front of shop asking diners not to queue up and it was by the building management. The internal of Victor's Kitchen is rather run down and cramped with chipboard foreceiling. As the tables were all lined up in rows leaving a middle walkway, the dining area were rather cramped if you were to order different kinds of Dim Sum. However such squeezy area gave us a feel on how situation is like in Char Chang Ting of Hong Kong.Interestingly prepared with a bowl of ice outside the cooling HK Summer Beverages, it did remind us of the authenticity of such fare.Chicken Porridge was not too thick and not too watery. Simply love its texture and the sweetness. Also, century egg with chicken meat is delicious.I'm still in search of the better Siew Mai. Though these are good, but not to die for.A bite of the "Q" chewiness. These prawns were succulent. The XO Carrot cake is so soft till i thought I'm eating some gluely paste until I confirmed that it is their signature carrot cake. This is also one of the shop's recommendation. One of the staples that we wont skip during any Dim Sum Meal. The signature dish - Golden Egg Yolk Lava Bun. Even before you bite on it, the fillings will ooze out once you tear away its paper at the bottom. Though oily and creamy, it still tastes good in the overall.Sauce is generous on the plate of Char Siew Cheong Fun. Its silky translucent thin layer skin simply wrapped the chopped pieces of char siew meat well.To enhance some of the Dim Sum taste, it is good to have dab on some chilli.Through this return visit, I felt that Victor's Kitchen had lost its charm somehow, she is no longer my best and economical choice of Dim Sum that will come straight into my mind. For more reviews, visit www.umakemehungry.com continue reading

People have been raving over the custard buns so i decided to try it out. Well, the custard bun does not live up to its name. The skin of bun is kinda rough and the filling is too sweet, still prefer the one from Taste Paradise. The iced milk tea is great, strong taste of tea and not too sweet. As the ice is placed around the cup,it will not be diluted. Bo luo char siew bao is a recommended item. The crust is very crispy and is a chewy bun, char siew in it is not too sweet as well. The Xo carrot cake is quite special as it is a steamed one, quite salty but worth a try. Yam cake is recommended by them, you can really bite onto the yam in it. King size prawn dumpling is slightly more expensive as compared to the one at other places as they really have bigger prawn in it but i feel that there is nothing special about it.It is quite expensive here as one dish costs more than the one in restaurant like Taste Paradise. continue reading
