Wee Nam Kee a family-own business in operation since 1982 is well-known as a chicken rice speciality shop. Today, Wee Nam Kee serves a wide range of local favourite dishes including Hainanese Chicken Rice, Curry Fish Head, Cereal Prawn and Roasted Pork. Wee Nam Kee is located opposite Novena MRT Station, along the same road as where Revenue House is.

I visited Wee Nam Kee on a weekday at 11am. Hence, it was not crowded. Customers patronising Wee Nam Kee do not need to queue up to order. Instead, sit down at a vacant table and wait for one of the staff to take your order. Payment can be made at the end of meal at the cashier located in the stall.

Some of the must have for chicken rice - e.g. chilli, ginger, sweet sauce, pepper.

I ordered the 'White / Steamed Chicken' also known as 白鸡 in Chinese with Chicken Gizzard. 'White' Chicken Rice $4.00 with Gizzard $0.50.

The chicken rice was fragrant and not oily. Generous portion of Chicken Gizzard was given. However, the main star of this dish was disappointing. The White / Steamed Chicken was a tad too dry and tough. It seems to a certain flavour to give it a certain oomph. Luckily, the chilli help to enhanced the taste and grease the chicken.

I was quite disappointed by this meal at Wee Nam Kee as they are well known for being one of the best chicken rice stall in Singapore.

I noticed from the few tables that were occupied, everyone ordered Roasted Chicken 烧鸡 instead of Steamed Chicken. Maybe I should have ordered that instead.

The rice is indeed very fragrant, not too sticky with the perfect texture for this local delight. The chicken meat is very juicy and love those well roasted chicken skin on all the individual pieces of chickens, which are also slight crispy as well. The added garnishes, parsley and thinly slices of cucumbers make the dish looks more presentable and delicious to go along with the chicken meat as well.

But not to forget their must-eat minced garlic and the chicken rice chilli sauce, which certainly bring you to another higher level of enjoyment when having this dish here. Buy back is also welcome here and it will taste equally delicious when you bring it back to enjoy with your loves one.

Every saturday, I have a standard routine of going to Novena church followed by having my dinner at Wee Nam Kee restaurant.

To start off, the place is big and specialises in chicken rice but have other stuff. I cant expect roasted chicken at 9pm but i think that the steamed chicken is equally good. It is a little cold but the rice is a neutralizer as it is warm and tasty. The condiments at the side provides us with many tastes.

There was one night, i was feeling a little sick and had their soup of the day. It was the pork rib soup with red dates and winter melon. Yumm... as it was a cold night, the soup was really helpful. It is a little pricey though, one plate of steam chicken rice with a glass of lime juice is around $5.30. Despite the price, it is still tasty.

The place isnt absolutely clean but it is suitable for dining. I cant blame them there are so many people dining there.

Lastly, the service is good, prompt and lots of intiative and the dining experience overall was ok.
A good place to recommend for people who love chicken rice but if you want roasted,

PLEASE GO FOR LUNCH!!!!

The neither here nor there lunch time

Well i suppose cause it's Famous Chicken Rice stall!
My mum asked me to buy home since i'm in the vicinity

We've always passed by on the bus and always see many people eating there!
But i got a shock when i pay, it's $4 for a packet of Chicken Rice!

It's slightly expensive for my taste but i could see why when i got home and opened it up!
The portion is quite a lot

Mine's the You Ji (Dark Soya Chicken)!
It's very tasty due to their marinating i think

My mum find that the white chicken is not as nice, a bit more dry than mine!
So i really think that the sauce is very important

I was here to have their chicken rice a few times. Their service has always been prompt. I was presented the menu quickly and have the order taken equally quick. It was served fast to my table. I always ordered the roasted chicken. Despite having deep fried the chicken still have its tenderness retained. The skin has got a nice flavor at the right level of saltiness. Apparently, the rice did not flare as good as the chicken. The standard did not seem to be quite consistent. It can be too grainy

They charged GST for all the foods and drinks including the taking away.

I guess it was worth the wait.

Their chilli sauce also evokes your appetite, the sourness and spiciness just goes too well with the chicken and the rice. It was indeed a hearty meal.

Wee Nam Kee chicken rice is one of the famous chicken rice and I finally had the chance to try it last week since my sister suggested the place for our dinner. We ordered two plates of chicken to share between the 3 of us as well as another dishes from another stall. The chicken meat is quite tender and the sauce given for the chicken further brings out the taste of the chicken. The chilli is also very nice – spicy, sourish and not too salty. I love dipping the chicken meat into the chilli sauce

The food is served almost immediately and I am pleased to see the double plate presentation: a large plate of chicken meat (I have ordered roasted chicken) and a plate of chicken rice. I love the sight of the roasted skins gleaming with oil and also the rich fragrance of the rice. The roasted chicken meat is tender and when soaked in the light soya sauce, it is absolutely delicious! The rice however, is rather plain from my expectation.

My experience with this chicken rice was quite different with other chicken rice. I would say the rice tasted quite rustic and has enough flavour without being over oily. Consistency in the quality of the rice is a problem that are faced by many other chicken rice stalls. The chicken at Wee Nam Kee is the tender Non-Kampung type but still is juicy and tender. It has never failed me to eat there every week end.
