I'm not really a 'minty' person but I really like this pie a lot. The pasta that we ordered tasted very different from the normal pastas that we get, and also try the teas there!

Well, luckily for us Windowsill in the woods...is in our 'hood! What a fantastic little place!

From the clever "wood" entrance, to the tantalising pies that greeted us as soon as we walked in, to the light and bright interior we knew we'd be back. Friendly staff, efficient service (found a spare chair for our party of 3.5) and delicious pies...

We had two pies...
1. Coconut Lime Vodka - tangy, tasty, fun and just a little bit naughty (jelly vodka that you can actually taste, yum!) and
2. S'mores - 9 out of 10 according to chocoholic hubby. Who also had a flat white coffee.

His rating on the coffee "good, but not great". He personally prefers CSHH or Toby's Estate.

With nothing else around, many appeared to have made a special trp to this little "hole in the wall". I'm glad it's at our doorstep and within a short walk, even if it is in the rain!

PS - Pram-o-meter rating 7 out of 10. You can easily get the pram in, but there are many tables that wouldn't be able to accommodate one "at the table" ;)

Hidden gem opposite jalan besar stadium, nice place with so much choices of homemade pies (spoilt for choice), we order apple pie $7.50, fresh ingredients used and not so sweet and very nice to eat, one complaint is that a bit too pricey for a pie ranging from $7-$9, we order a latte $5, it tastes good with high quality of coffee beans used , enjoyed it very much, we like the deco of the cafe too. nevertheless shall go back try other pies if got chance,as it is very interesting.

As I didn't like desserts that are overly sweet, I picked the Coconut Lime Vodka Pie - "Filled with zesty lime curd, intoxicating cubes of vodka jelly and topped with a swirl of coconut cream" - basically that's it. I like how the lime taste is distinct but not overpowering, and the vodka jelly within is actually a little bitter. Great pie.

I also got the Grasshopper - "a yummy chocolate flourless cake base topped with a crazy fresh mint cream". This is one of the rare chocolate based dessert that is not too rich or overly sweet. The chocolate cake tastes like fluffy mousse, and one won't get sick of eating it, unlike many other chocolate desserts (and the s'mores pie I suppose?). The mint cream complements the whole pie very well.

We were very full from the two pies but were greedy, so we got the Strawberry Lemon Pie - which was recommended by their staff as their best-seller. A very refreshing and fragrant tart. I especially loved the 2 strawberry jelly-like sticks within; just like solid strawberry puree/fruit chews, very good. However, I would still prefer the Lime Vodka pie to this as this is rather common-tasting.

We also had a pot of tea at $6; you can smell the tea leaves and choose from among 5-6 different Gryphon teas. We got the Aloe Vera one and it was smooth and goes well with the pies. The best thing about it is it's for 2, and you can refill the pot with water as many times as you like (tempts people to order more pies as well).

The pies cost $7-$8, quite expensive, but I guess you pay for the decor, ambience, and a change from the usual cakes. They frequently introduce limited edition flavours, like the Bourbon Pumpkin pie that will soon be released in conjunction with Halloween - be sure to catch that.

I admire the intricate interior design, adorned largely with wooden furnishings and platforms, giving a much homely ambience, and a parting from the outside, worn-out streets and buildings. It’s free-seating, and pretty communal (in the sense that you can sit with Mr Picklechips, the big Snorlax-y bear who lazes in the cafe the whole day). Bet you don’t know he has a name!

You can pair your pies with coffee from Liberty, or tea from Gryphon. The pot of tea is refillable.
And oh, also local bands like Jack & Rai and The Sam Willows have performed at right where the bear is sitting. So if you keep a lookout at their Facebook Page, you might get lucky and have a live band over dessert.

Camp Symmetry ($8) :: This new pie in the Windowsill camp is only less than 2 months old. The ingredients are really elaborate and exquisite; white chocolate pudding with raisins, cookie streusel, candied thyme and white truffle. It’s slightly overwhelming but indulgent. Slightly sharply sweet but will do when paired with a pot of tea.

S’mores ($8) :: S’mores is a more classic and safe option, comprising gooey milk chocolate pudding, sticky dark chocolate fudge, with toasted marshmallows and graham crackers laid on top. I quite like that even though it’s brim-filled with chocolate, it’s not excessively rich, thick and cloying.

The pies specialist also offers other pies like Coconut Lime Vodka, Banana Almond Brittle and Pecan. The base of pies is good in not being too crumbly and complements the sweetness of it all well. While the pies are pretty well-executed, the prices can be a little steep to head back often.

I wonder what it took for someone to realise that our island is in dire need of a good pie. Windowsill has to be godsent. At the rate I am consuming their pies, I should be made ambassador soon enough - even more gregariously than my love for red velvet or carrot cake.

I shall not hide my infatuation with the vodka lime - the best of sweet and sour all in one and an alcoholic punch to end it off.

Smores, I've yet to try the real dessert but I am in love with the homemade graham crackers. Best eaten with the sour pies.

Similarly goes for blueberry pie that always gets me all excited - maybe they choose to experiment countlessly with either sugar crystals or pearl sugar entrusted tart cover, sweet tooth me prefers the former. Bring that back please!

Morello cherry is usually a by the way for me, takes a whole new level of sour to love this so I'm still heart and soul with their blueberry pies.

I have to be a stalker of Windowsill's instagram account to even stumble upon their latest offering - a collaboration with #symmetrycamp (There is also a collaboration with Symmetry cafe so do not get confused between the cafe and the project!) It is a showcase at garden's by the bay come 2 November, Singapore's very own indie music festival brought to you by Symmetry Entertainment.

So anyhow and anyway, the limited edition pie was launched on 21 August and is available till mid November before the christmas flavours take over. The pre-launch one I managed to get a slice of (the last one infact!) is a beautiful concoction of chocolate fudge, candied thyme, meringue mushroom and chocolate crumble infused with truffle. Herb gardens are all the rage now and this completely resembled one - I can have my garden and eat it!

I adore truffle quite shamelessly, even if its just truffle oil - cheap as can be, but a wonderful ingredient to have around the kitchen. This has to be a first white truffle dessert eaten and yes I am sold on the intricacies of the dessert - luxuriously smooth chocolate pudding with savoury cookie crumble, raisins and candied thyme. I could just nibble on candied thyme as a candy for-ever. Arguably their best chocolate attempt to date - unabashedly not a fan of either the caramel chocolate tart (retired flavour!), smores nor grasshopper.

$8 per slice and it sits in the premium range, their official tart will come sloshed in white chocolate - apparently more wicked and better than the one sampled - so yes, I will be camping out and making a return soon!

I got to know about Windowsill pies via Savour (a gastronomy event) where I bought my first two Windowsill pies - Grasshopper and Strawberry Lemon. Both pies were awesome leaving me wanting for more. Stepping into the shop (or as they put it 'the woods'), you can choose to be seated near the entrance (next to the pretty looking window sills) or cuddle up to the giant teddy bear which is seated under the tree.

There is a range of delectable looking pies ($7.50-$8.50) to choose from and teas to go along with the pies. We ordered the S'mores and Coconut lime vodka pies which are some of the more popular pies in the shop.

S'mores is a dense chocolate pie with marshmallows and is definitely a hit with chocolate lovers and sweet taste buds. Coconut lime vodka , like the strawberry lemon pie, has a tangy citrus flavour with vodka jelly.

Located at one of the shophouses opposite jalan besar stadium lies a cafe which is famous for their pie. I ordered their best seller, which was the grasshopper pie recommended by their staff. The pie indeed did not disappoint me, as the mint was refreshing along with the chocolate brownie, it create a wonderful taste. Although it costs around $7 but for such a delicious pie, I will definitely be back for more.

At the street adjacent to the one where CSHH lies, Windowsill now have a place they can call their own. At Windowsill in the Woods, you can expect to see a wide array of artisan pies. I loved the decor of the place, using green and brown as their main colours. It was clean, spacious and most importantly, quiet.

I tried the S'mores pie as I've heard raves about it. Personally, I don't think it lived up to expectations. I would prefer my pies with thicker crust, especially for S'mores which was so rich in chocolate, it got a bit gelat after awhile. They do have many other interesting pies so I'm sure there'll be one that would suit your palate!

Normally, I'm not a fan of strawberry but this pie is simply delish! The luscious lemon custard matches well with the tube-shaped strawberry compote which lined on the pie base. I've always like chocolate & caramel flavor, so it was no doubt that i love it as well.
We also ordered a Chai Latte & Cappuccino to go along with our pies. Both were decent but personally I felt that an extra dose of spice in the Chai Latte would make it taste even better.

In total, we spent $24.50 which in my opinion, is reasonably priced. The staff are friendly, the food is good, and it makes a nice place to chill out with friends. This cafe is a must-go for all those who love cafe hopping and i would certainly be back for more!

We ordered three pies ($7+ each) to share (they put it on a tray for you if you're sharing). The left one is caramel chocolate, middle is strawberry lemon and the one on the right is the cherry pie.

I can't decide if caramel choc was my fav, or the cherry. I loved both. However, my least fav was the strawberry lemon - way too sour!

I'm definitely coming back for more - it's a good place to for some serious chilling out.
