Had my first visit to Wong Kok not long ago. Ordered apple pancakes, swcom pbtt, one hot honey lemon and one ori ice mt. Total cost spent $21. The pancakes are sweet and nice. Two small pancakes. Didn't try a taste of the sWCoM PBTT though but was told that it's really filling. Looks nice though. Maybe will visit again next time but not too frequently as the price are kinda pricey for a small portion.

Enviroment was fine for family, children, friends gathering. ALways order their luncheon meat maggie which i can cook myself at home too but it's somehow taste better. Service was ok. Price was was normal for a so call restaurant.

Ordered the chicken baked rice and it was delicious! The cheese layer on top of the rice is well-baked, with some stretches in brown while some in yellowish white. The cheese remains very much semi-liquid and as you scoop up the rice, the cheese sticks together, making it difficult to break off. The rice is also served with tomatoes and broccoli, which makes it very chinese-style. The rice itself is a little hard and dry at times. Would be great to have some drinks to accompany this dish. Milk Tea and Passion Fruit juicy came first, both of them were chilling delightful. Honey Chicken Dried noodle was a bit soggy but still tolerable, sauce was sweet tangy. Vegetarian pasta wise, noodle was tasteless and my friend struggled to finish it up. Price was all right, normal restaurant range.

Wong Kok Char Chan Teng is one of the few places that one of my friends love to visit. For drinks, I went for the Yam Milk Shake ($5.90++). It is topped off with a Yam Ice-Cream on top that is very strong in it’s creamy taro flavour. It complimented the drink well, which is pretty milky and light on the taste of yam.

Double Sauces Sandwich ($4.90++) is a toast dish with their own twist to it. Instead of serving just normal toast, there is a variation of french toast and white toast, served with mushroom sauce and Italian tomato sauces. The white toast, supposedly crispy, turned out to have a texture which suggested that it was reheated after being left out there for too long. French toast was fragrant with the egg beaten and soaked into it, but did not really seem to match with both sauces. The Italian tomato sauce was somewhat similar to a tomato puree, while the mushroom sauce was quite near to cream of mushroom in taste with other ingredients added into it. While the idea was a good one, the dish just does not seem to match up and felt pretty random in my opinion.

Teriyaki Chicken Rice ($7.60++) had the nice savoury yet sweet flavour that is the signature of Teriyaki. The onions were also cooked well, though still pretty crunchy The qualm was that there was no gravy or broth in the rice which made it seem a tad dry to swallow, especially when it is such as big bowl of rice.

I ordered the Salmon Fillet in Cheese Sauce with Rice ($10.90++) as the item that I had wanted went out of stock. The cheese was pretty pungent on it’s arrival, and while the salmon was pretty reasonable a portion, it was a dish that was hard to down. The cheese sauce was just too overwhelming and strong, and the coleslaw was served warm and it turned a wee bit sour when placed beside the warm sauce and rice, which made it feel disastrous.

The Teriyaki Chicken with Rice, which is a chef’s recommendation, is an well executed dish less the fact that there was no sauce to accompany the rice; the chicken is great but the rice is too dry.

The Salmon Fillet in Cheese Sauce with Rice is a rather disappointing dish. The salmon was not too bad, but the cheese sauce that accompanied the salmon was rather revolting. The coleslaw came warm which carried a rather sour taste (which was rather unexpected)

I probably will still come back here again (as I did for previous visits; have visited for the past 3 times). Definitely not for the 2 rice dishes though.

Had a lunch gathering with my ex-colleagues at Wong Kok Char Chan Teng. My second visit here.

Food
1. We ordered the honey chicken dried noodles - very yummy and delicious! The honey chicken pieces were nicely done! The noodles were very smooth!
2. Iced HK milk tea - not too sweet!
3. Boiled coke - interesting!

Service
As one of my colleagues was pregnant and I requested to seat nearer to the entrance. The restaurant was only 30% occupied at that hour. They had difficulty allowing me to opt for a seat near to the entrance when the whole row of tables near to the entrance were empty. I thought they could be more flexible in acceding to customer's request.

Ambience
Parts of the restaurant were dimly lit. Overall acceptable except for the not so compassionate service.

It has been a while since my girlfriend and I eat hong kong food so she suggested we head to wongkok for dinner. I was not in the mood to eat noodles or bread so I scrolled through the rice portion of their menu. after much pondering, I finally settled for their beef fried rice. the beef fried rice is really fragrant. the beef they used is very tender. It is not very thinly sliced as well. I think the beef made the fried rice tasted exceptionally delicious.

I went to wongkok for dinner with my colleagues. We were browsing through the menu deciding what to eat when we saw the next table being served with their food. the fried rice with diced pork was so fragrant. the aroma of the food floated into my nose. I cannot help but ordered that dish. it turned out the way I smelt it, very delicious. the rice was very fragrant and the diced pork was not too saltish as well. the portion was pretty large, I shared some with another colleague.

Sudden crave for chinese food when shopping around bugis area so we decided to have our lunch at wongkok char chan teng. Ordered this baked rice, which is also known as sze chuan style chicken baked rice. The food actually came out very fast. Well, it just tasted normal, really normal. but the way tey served this dish is actually quite creative. The sauce that is served on this baked rice is a little bit salty to me, but still, i managed to finish this.

i went to wongkok char chan teng for dinner with my friend. I ordered their spice pork fried rice. when they served the fried rice, it was simply fragrant. they were very generous with their portion of the fried rice, there were a lot of spice pork cubes as well. I feel that the spiced pork cubes add flavours to the fried rice, making it very tasty and fragrant. it is very seasoned, not too salty.

This is a typical café selling several hong kong delights. I was at loss at what to eat, so I just ordered the crispy noodles. The noodles are crispy true to their name and the noodle itself is rather saltish already since it is in the nature of such noodles. As the gravy is also rather saltish, the overall dish ended up being much salty then I expected, which is a disappointment. The ingredients are not too many as well, what you see is all that there is. I probably will just stick to trying ot

I decided to order Beef Horfun.
The plate was sure big and was quite fragrant but i couldnt really finish the whole plate.
Somehow it was nice on the first few bites but I got sick of it,
perhaps the gravy was too much.

I think this shop is like the sister shop of the Xin wang HK cafe. I like the pineapple drink they serve here. it consists of small cubes of pineapple and sago. It's too nice, gonna go buy it soon i think. and the bake rice is simply delicious. the service is great too, with all the celebrations going on in the cafe, they helped us to take group photos too.
