I had a high expectation but turned out feeling a bit disappointed after tasted the foods. I am a fan of the braised meat rice in Taiwan so decided to order it at this cafe to try out. The taste was not close to what i had in Taiwan. The braised meat has got little taste of ngor hiang powder and a bit oily. The braised egg was a bit overcooked. It failed to impress me overall. continue reading

Eventhough it has been called as 'Taiwan' Cafe instead of 'hong Kong' cafe, the food menus are quite similar to the Hong Kong Version. My favourite dish here will be their cheesy baked rice with chicken cutlet. Large portion of chicken cutlet has been deep fried and cut into slices before placed on the cheesy baked rice. The chicken cutlets are really crispy and the meat inside is juicy and tender. Another good thing about this chicken cutlets is that it is not too oily and not much chicken fats can be found on it. The rice is fragrant and lots of cheese have been used during the baking. The outcome is melted cheese are topped on the rice which taste so good and you will be craving for more after your first plate. Do request for some parmersen cheese if you are a super cheese lover! continue reading

Went to Marina Barrage that day and decided to head down to cityhall for food!Decided upon Taiwan Xin Wang Cafe cause we tried before HK Xin Wang Cafe in Singapore before and it's quite good given the affordable price. We ordered our drinks first, if you expected Gong Cha standard than Nah! HAHA! I think it's decent only, probably sweet talk standard. Around $2++.We also ordered potato fritters~ not too bad.Like a substitute for potato fries! HAHA! Can't remember the price already, but for TW xin wang cafe, it's really affordable one, no worry! For the 3 of us, the bill doesn't exceed $40 at city area somemore! Woohoo! Our main dish! Chicken Chop with rice, there are sauces (e.g. curry) to go with it if you want to. I chose not too. And it tasted quite well already! Crispy outside and tender inside~ heehee!I would also like to make a comment, their menus are also rather traditional taiwan dishes like braised rice, mee suah etc. so if you loved TW food, i believed it's worth a try here! continue reading

Their menu is pretty impressive, they have most of the taiwanese foods listed but i have doubt of their authenticity but still, i went ahead to order braised meat rice (鲁肉饭) with a braised egg (卤蛋) and Pork dumpplings (饺子) out of curiosity. The braised minced pork and egg rice was the best, and have a generous amount of gravy on the rice, and it was all so delicious. continue reading
