Almost every table that is being occupied, you will see at least a bowl of Ye Lai Xiang's Cheng Tng. That's how good this Cheng Tng is. Shall name a few that I found in my bowl of Cheng Tng - Dried Longan, Barley, Sweet Potato, Mung Beans, Winter Melon Strips, Sago Balls, Dried Persimmon Strips, White Fungus & Gingko Nuts. Some of the ingredients like mung beans and persimmon strips are rarely found in Cheng Tngs.

Often, you will have to queue for 10 to 20 minutes for the Cheng Tng. Definitely worth the wait. The staff there are also very polite and courteous.

P.S. : I would suggest that you choose the Hot Version of the Cheng Tng if you are intending to takeaway. Reason as they includes lots of small ice cubes, which are size of pebbles and it will reduce the authentic taste of the Cheng Tng.

This is probably the most special Cheng Tng that I ever enjoyed in Singapore. Served in a traditional thick glass bowl, the bowl of Cheng Tng is indeed no ordinary. Refreshing as the name sounds, the "tng" (sound) packs with sweet hints of dried longan with barley, sweet potato, mung beans, winter melon stripes, sago, dried pessimmon strip, gingko nut and white fungus as its ingredients. One can opt for the hot or cold version. The special part of the chilled Cheng Tng is its little ice cubes that maintains a good chilling temperature throughout instead of the usual shave ice we have.

Cost: S$2.00 / bowl

Still at Bedok Food Center. While waiting for colleague who is buying sugarcane drink, I went to queue for Cheng Teng. The cold cheng teng here is slightly different from other places. It uses normal small ice cubes instead of shave ice. Cheng Teng base is sweet & has a hint of longan. Generous serving of ingredients include wintermelon strips, longan, sago, white fungus & others. It's probably one of the best Cheng Teng I've had.

Light and mouthwatering soup base with soft and delicious sweet potato. First time i see sea coconut added into cheng tng, it actually taste good. There's also gingko , barley, dried longans, etc . This is a seriously good food.

This is a famous stall for cheng tng. They emphasized rather strongly on the many ingredients like the winter melon strips, white fungus and dried persimmon used for their cheng tng. It has a nice longan taste and the level of sweetness was just right. I liked how the it served the cheng tng in a very traditional looking bowl with spoon. It is still quite pricey to pay $2 for such a bowl of cheng tng.

Was looking for cold dessert as the weather was really hot and decided to try out this cheng tng stall with a long queue. fThere were lots of ingredients in the cheng tng, such as sweet potato, white fungus, dried persimmon, gingko and the white "pearls". The soup was slightly sweet for me. Overall, i enjoyed this dessert, though i find it slightly expensive ($2 per bowl).

My favorite Cheng Tng has always been that particular stall at Tanjong Pagar Plaza. Though i have heard a lot about Ye Lai Xiang but have never get a chance to try it as this food centre is rather out of the way from where i stay.

I made an effort to come by today, and made up my mind to have this Cheng Tng. This stall has been around for decades and it was started by their Grandma using her secret recipe and this recipe has been passed down from generation to generation. And, this stall is only selling the cold and hot version of Cheng Tng for $2.00. They are definitely strong believer in doing what they are good in.

There was quite a queue today as one of the customers in front took away at least 20 bowls of the Cheng Tng and that held up the queue a little.

What make this particular Cheng Tng distinctly different from its competitors is the 11 ingredients in it. The soup is boiled from rock sugar, dried longan and pandan leave and the rest is supposed to be their secret recipe. Some of the most distinctive of the 11 ingredients are white fungus, sago, dried persimmon, winter melon strips etc.

I do enjoy fishing the persimmon slices out of the Cheng Tng and eating it. The soup is clear with a slight longan taste though i would prefer it to be a little stronger but still it has a nice cooling effect to help fight the crazy hot weather these days.

I would like to commend their effort in insisting to use the nice glass bowl to present their Cheng Tng together with their old school looking spoon that see them through decades to give it a taste of old school.

This is, no doubt, one of the best Cheng Tng around. Do give it a try if you happen to be in this part of Bedok.

Strongly recommended.
