If you are looking for some fuss free, hawker and pocket friendly kind of Dim Sum in the North East area of Singapore, you can try visiting Yi Dian Xin Hong Kong Dim Sum. They are located in a coffeeshop within walking distance from Kovan MRT Station. My vote will go their steamed carrot cake for its unique shape and traditional taste. My vote will go their steamed carrot cake for its unique shape and traditional taste. It comes in a circular shape topped with chopped spring onions and generous amount of sesame seeds. Make up of chunks of raddish as well as chinese sausage. Bites of dried shrimps can be found too. The steamed carrot cake was soft and doused with light soy sauce.

Har Kau were rather dry and skin was thicker than my expectation. However the size of the prawns look appealing under the translucent dumpling's skin.

The Siew Mai is quite decent and filled with lean juicy pork meat. The level of fragrance and taste falls in the average range.

The chicken claws are not the best though they were not that oily. It tasted spicy not only with chilli but with black pepper.

Salted Egg Custard Pau is one of my MUST order on any dim dum meal. If you are expecting some exploding effect from their Signature Salted Egg Custard Pau, I will suggest you to lower down your expectations. Flow of custard with salted egg is smooth and meagre. However the Pau Skin is quite soft and its best to consume while hot.

Buns are fluffy and soft. Fillings lacked the juicy and sweet punch of usual minced BBQ pork, also portion can be a little more generous.

Porridge is smooth but the taste was rather bland and does not have any wow factor.

With the pricing that we are paying for the Dim Sum, I find it's relatively decent if you want a simple meal.

This was another restaurant that one food blogger recommended their liu sha bao. This stall offers cheap dim sum. I recommend their liu sha bao and their carrot cake. Their carrot cake is the steam type with the chee cheong fun soy sauce and the whole dish was really nice.

Visited Yi Dian Xin for my brunch. It is located in the shop that is selling teo chew porridge. If you are someone that likes to have your meal in a cool and comfortable environment, this is not a place for you. It is an open space area, not air conditioned , just like any kopitiams. Braised Chicken Feets - Not the best that i had before but still decent. Custard Buns - One of their signature dishes. The buns were soft and fluffy. The salted egg yolk fillings are nicely done. Rice roll with char

I have always wanted to try the dim sum from this particular stall. The uncle tending the stall was very nice, even though we arrived when he was closing (he has already kept everything), he still attended to us, as we went there specially for the dim sum. It didn't take long for him to steam the dishes we wanted. The liu sha bao was good, although not piping hot but luke warm, the siew mai average, and the xiao long bao was also good (although cannot be compared to ding tai feng's). Also reason

This shop is located along Upper Serangoon Road at one of those old coffee shops. I heard the owner used to work as a Chef in charge of dim sum with TungLok Group. I hereby came with anticipation. I ordered my usual favourites like prawn dumplings, siew mai and xiao long bao. The price is range from $2.70 to $3.00 for a basket. I gotta agree these dim sum tasted pretty decent and relatively fresh particularly the xiao long bao. The skin was rather thin with a spoonful of tasty soup in it. This

This is definitely a good place for an affordable dim sum feast though the standard might not be particularly outstanding but it is definitely not disappointing.
