Yi Ji Fried Hokkien Prawn Noodles 福建炒虾面 is located at Mee Sek Food Court along Upper Serangoon Road (5 minutes from Kovan MRT station). This stall is located in the same place as the famous Punggol Nasi Lemak. I visited on a weekday evening. Although it was self service, I waited for not more than 10 minutes before my order was ready. The Fried Hokkien Mee was available in $4, $5 and $6. If you require additional chilli, it would cost at an additional $0.50. Fried Hokkien Mee $5Fried Hokkien Mee

Yi Ji 's Fried Hokkien Mee $5 used thin bee hoon (instead of thick bee hoon) and yellow noodles. There were 3 pieces of prawns, a few pieces of squids and lean meat. Their version was also slightly drier with little broth underneath the noodles. Fried Hokkien Mee $5
Although the Fried Hokkien Mee had great texture and was flavourful, it seems to lacked wok hei and the unique flavourful attained when fried with pork lard. There was no pork lard found in my plate of Hokkien Mee. The prawns were firm and fresh.
The sambal chilli added at the side was super spicy as proclaimed on its signboard. Although it was very spicy, it lacked fragrant. I ate tried the chilli a few times before stopping as it oerwhemled the other flaours.
Overall, it was quite a decent plate of Hokkien Mee.
