After a dining experience to the place, I feel that it has justified a re-visit to the restaurant in the future.

Went on a weekday for lunch and there is a promotion of weekday lunch set $14.90 which consists of any choice of pasta, salad and a small soup.

For the salad, there is a salad counter to mix and match own salad. Though the choices are fairly limited, they are all fresh and good. One can choose from the usual lettuce, carrots, cherry tomatoes to fruits such as pineapple and lychee. For a brinjal lover like myself, I was delighted to see there were sautéed brinjal as well. For toppings there are bacon bits and white sesame as well as flavorful dressings.

Feeling already satiated after a bowl of fresh salad, I was really very satisfied with the pasta I ordered. I had the shrimp and mushroom with Onsen Egg pasta in tomato sauce. The noodles was cooked al-dente and the tomato cream sauce was full of flavour. The addition of an Onsen Egg on top added extra oomph and moist to it
The portion was too big for me and I was full to the brim already halfway eating.

I was very satisfied with the food quality here and the lunch deal was a good one. I would definitely head back here for the pasta and salad too! ^^ However I have noticed that most of the other branches actually don't have the salad counter, so the salad was actually served from the kitchen and what you will get is just some lettuces, tomatoes and carrot shreds

When I was working at Raffles Place before, Yomenya Goemon at Marina Bay Link Mall was one of my favourite places to have lunch. Since a colleague greatly recommended me this place, it has become the only spaghetti house I go to now whenever I need a pasta fix.

Yomenya Goemon opened its doors in Shibuya, Japan in the 70s and is one of the top spaghetti houses in Japan today. The secret to their success probably lies in their ingredients which they claim to be imported from Italy so customers get to taste authentic Italian cuisine with a East-meets-West (or Japan-meets-Italy) fusion twist. The end result? Tasty plates of spaghetti with unforgettable sauces and the freshest ingredients ever.

I have eaten at Yomenya Goemon countless times and their quality has been consistent so far which is truly commendable.

If you pick their Regular, Large or Dessert set meals, you can help yourself to the salad bar. Basically, the service staff will just hand you a bowl and you can just fill with whatever you want from what’s available at the salad bar. Do note only one serving of salad per set meal is allowed so you can’t go back for seconds. I have seen people piling ingredients as high as possible on their bowls to make it all worthwhile so you just got to try that and see how high you can go. The variety of ingredients is not huge but some notable items to get would be the lychees and silken tofu that really lends some sweetness and smoothness respectively to the salad. Their sesame dressing is a must-try!

If I’m not wrong, not every outlet has a salad bar. I recalled the outlets at Changi City Point and Marina Bay Link Mall have the salad bar but not the Citylink Mall one so it’s good to call and check if you’re going to their other outlets.

This time round, I opted for their Half & Half Set A (S$20) which consists of a Tomato Sauce with Basil & Mozzarella Spaghetti, Cream Sauce Spaghetti with Crab, Shrimp & Scallops, soup, soft drink or dessert. Their half & half sets merely mean you can try 2 selected types of spaghetti at one time. Unfortunately, the choices of spaghetti are fixed for the half & half’s so you can’t pick from the ala-carte menu.

I’m normally not a big fan of tomato based spaghetti but this Tomato Sauce with Basil & Mozzarella Spaghetti is pretty good. The taste of the tomato sauce is not overpowering and the dish is pleasantly balanced by the sharpness of the cheese and aromatic basil. Even though it doesn’t have much ingredients in it, the sauce makes it very palatable.

Ever wonder what is like mixing two cuisines together? The answer is right here at Yomenya Goemon, this restaurant combine the idea from Spaghetti which is Italian and Japanese cooking method into a whole new awesome dish. Some unique combinations include spaghetti in ramen soup base or even curry sauce. With regards to the pricing, I think that it is quite expensive as each person spent about slightly more than $10 for a meal. The ambiance makes you feel like you are in Japan but when the food

Both of us ordered the Set Lunch Menu. She ordered Set C whie I ordered Set A. Her choice of spaghetti was‘Smoked Chicken & Four Cheeses’ while mine was‘Mediterranean Tomato Cream Soup (Spaghetti with Fresh Seafood)’. Both would have cost $13.50 each if ordered as a la carte.

For each set, only one serving from the salad bar is allowed. Look at the variety.

We were told the Mediterranean Tomato Cream Soup was their top best seller. True, to the recommendation of the staff, it was delicious! This is a cream based pasta. It was not very creamy, hence eating was enjoyable even till the end.The seafood was very fresh. No wonder it is their best seller. Certainty something to try.

Smoked Chicken & Four Cheeses another cream based pasta. It was too creamy, otherwise would certainty be another dish that would be a hit among foodies.

Chocolate Cake with Cookie & Ice Cream would have cost $6.00 if it did not come along with the set. The cookie and ice cream were just average. But the chocolate cake was the star. Do give it a try!
Overall, i would definitely come back and try the other spaghetti again. Yummy! Moreover, the portion per serving was huge. If you are a small eater, you could order the half & half set and share with a friend. They are opening a 2nd outlet at Katong Mall somewhere in August this year. Wish that their 3rd can be situated at a more convenient location, such as Woodlands or Yishun.

The single serving of salad was stacked very high up with salads, beans, cherry tomatoes, and many, many, many lychees! The clam chowder spaghetti was very nice and creamy. The duck spaghetti was not bad (attached photo). Try not to order too many spaghetti dishes for one might get very full easily for the portions are quite big. Yummy and totally enjoyed delicious Japanese style spaghetti and also the chocolate cake. Take note the place could get crowded during meal times. Mrupupup would come again and try out the rest of the spaghetti dishes and pizzas as showed in their display like a typical Japanese restaurant. Yummyssss!

My partner and I ordered the set which came a salad (one servicing from the salad bar), a drink and a main. As the set only entitled to one servicing from the salad bar, being typical Singaporean, you can see diners trying to squeeze as much as possible into the tiny bowl for the salad. The salad bar has limited selection. The Japanese salad sauces and the seaweeds were my favourite.

I had the regular size (smallest in the menu) spaghetti and it was already quite a big servicing. I enjoyed unique taste of the Mentaiko Pork Spaghetti. It tasted like eating a plate of chinese fried noodle with Sichuan vegetables, especially eating it with chopsticks.

The Avocado and Shrimp Spaghetti my partner had was the cream base type. It was not as flavouring as mine but overall it was good and creamy.

If you are not a big eater, the restaurant has a "half and half" set which you can select 2 types of spaghetti from the menu. I saw a couple ordered the set and shared. The portion was quite reasonable too.

What seems to be a very very secluded area at Marina Bay, the Youmenya Goemon is located right at the corner of the basement. Inside, the place is usually at around 75% capacity during dinner time. Good thing about this place is the open salad bar if you intend to pay more of course. The spread is not a lot, but there are enough varieties of vegetables and fruits to choose from.

All restaurants at MBFC are always pack and full of crowd during lunch hour on weekdays. We decided to try out Youmenya Goemon as the pastas look really delicious. Japanese pasta seems like a new in thing these days. They are cooked in a different way as compared to the Italian pastas. Conveniently located at Marina Bay Link Mall, I would dine in almost every other time when I get the chance as it is near my workplace. The price is reasonable; it costs around $15 for pasta. The vongole pasta taste great with the right amount of pasta sauce.
