Yong Soon sure has one of the best you tiao out in town that you should not miss it if you happen to pass by Katong area.  Deep fried till really crispy and every mouthful of it can really taste the super fragrant of the mild 'five spicy powder' if i am not wrong, and it is also not too sweet nor very oily.  Inside is fluffy and soft in texture which whether you have it on its own or to dip into soy bean milk drink, both taste equally good! For the price of ninety cent per pair, is cheap and good!  The stall uncle is also very friendly and fast in service.  Stall is clean and neat. continue reading

Started by his grandfather over 20 years ago, Mr Low continued the trade and picked up the skill of making these savoury treats. As these dough fritters are best eaten hot, Mr Low makes it a point to have them freshly fried at all his stalls. Customers will be able to choose between traditional dough fritters such as You Tiao (Fried Dough Sticks), Butterfly fritters (Butterfly shaped dough fritters) and new exciting flavours for Xian Jian Bing (Deep-fried salty fritters) such as coffee, red and green bean and pandan. Muslim diners will be glad to know that these dough fritters are certified halal. You Tiao @ S$0.90The crispy and chewy You Tiao (Fried Dough Stick) are freshly fried and it's best eaten hot with soya milk. continue reading

This you tiao which is also known as fried long fritters, I suppose could be one of the best you tiao in Singapore. It is extra crunchy and at the same time even more fragrant. Usually the stall holders will not pre-fried too many to ensure the quality of the you tiao is still maintained. At ninety cents per pair of it, it is already ideal to fill your stomach. They also sell soya bean milk which I also usually love to dip my pipping hot you tiao in it to give it another kind of taste and experience. Too bad the soya bean was not the best we can get in Singapore, which I think so. continue reading

Try it and you will be as surprise like me that we can actually be able to taste such a crispy and fluffy you tiao from Yong Shun. At only ninety cents per piece, this generous portion of you tiao has really make my day a very happy one. It is not too sweet and the fragrant from it is really good! It is so crispy that you will surely want to have more after your first piece. I have dip it in milk coffee to add on the extra taste in it. Great to eat it on it's own and also with porridge and yellow bean paste dessert as well. continue reading

My first bite was really disappointing as the you tiao seemed to lack crispyness. So I had acutally put it down after my first bite , hoping that my hubby will finish it for me. But after chewing for a few minutes, there was an unusual taste that I get it from the you tiao.. saltiness that linger in your mouth after swallowed. I didn't taste the saltiness in the you tiao when I first bite it, which I find it really amazing. The butterfly was good , just like any butterfly which I eat from other stall. To make a choice between this 2, YOU TIAO you got my full vote! continue reading
