White Restaurant is modern cze char restaurant located in Sembawang, serving delicious white bee hoon. You can easily spot long queue snaking round the restaurants during weekend and dinner hours. The wait is well worth for the white bee hoon was really delicious. You can easily spot the restaurants as it is located opposite sembawang shopping center. Recently, it has gone through some renovation, providing diners with more comfort which indulging in their delights. It has been come spacious and brighter. Sembawang White Bee Hoon has set foot at Sembawang in 2010, serving moist and slimy seafood white bee hoon. The bee hoon stirred fried with egg, was really fragrant. This simple looking dish consisting of white bee hoon, sotong, prawns and vegetables has won many of the diners’ hearts and tummy. Meat & Seafood Roll (虾枣) is another recommended and popular dish that almost every table has a plate of this on their table. Minced meat and prawn was wrapped with beancurd skin and deep skin. Love how the roll was so fresh and meaty (a lot of filling).Meat & Seafood Roll (虾枣) , Small - $10Indo-Style Fried Chicken Wing was really crispy and the meat was tender. However, the taste and smell of turmeric was too strong for my liking. Indo-Style FriedChicken Wing印尼式炸鸡中翅 , Small - $8Other than the mentioneddishes, they are also known for the sambal la-la and cereal prawn. We will make an effort to try these on our next visit. We came all the way here to have this plate of seafood white beehoon and queued for quite awhile and had to wait for our food too.. I guess this dish is very popular and a lot would still come even though the location is not near the MRT. The white beehoon was served hot and from the look it has generous portion of seafood and egg. I like the rich in seafood taste and it is abit soupy but not too wet. It is very smoothing when eaten and eat with veg and prawn, it is very comforting in the stomach. I like their service too because they do serve chilli to match the beehoon which make it tasted even better!! It is kind of addictive... extra yummy. Read More

http://www.umakemehungry.com/2014/04/you-huak-restaurant.htmlIf you have eaten White Been Hoon, you will probably hear of Sembawang's famous White Bee Hoon which is located among the shop houses opposite Sembawang Shopping Centre. You Huak Restaurant serves Zi Char food beside the well known White Bee Hoon You Huak. The interior dining was spacious and neat packed with customers eagerly waiting for their plate of Bee Hoon and items ordered.Payment of drinks is due when it was served and was separated from the food order. We had Ai yu, ice lemon tea and barley for drinks and desserts. The favour was same as what I had tried in malaysia just that the Ai Yu Jelly was a tad miserable. Other than that the taste striked a good balance of sweet and sour, very soothing to the throat.Recommended by the lady helper, we ordered one of their popular dishes, the Indonesia fried Chicken Wing. It came 3 in a plate, which breakdown to $2 per piece. Served while they were piping hot and came accentuate with hints of ginger. A look closer and you will notice the fine strands of shredded ginger attached to its golden brown chicken skin. I'm glad that it was not too oily. Though it looked dry outside, as a whole it was tasty. This plain looking dish has some sliced green Japanese cucumber when served. This is what most of us are here for! The first spoonful of bee hoon left me a "Hmmmm" feeling but not so much of the Wow factor. The stock was delectable and was rich with seafood taste, I still can remember its sweetness and its generous serving of seafood with eggs scraps over the plate. Though it was already moist, I will recommend that if you can take some spice, remember to drench more chilli on your Bee Hoon as their chilli was quite "powerful".Onion Omelette was rather oily. However, if the amount of oil is too little, such golden brown yellow color of the egg is hard to be achieved. Though it was fluffy, I would still prefer a greater amount of onions to be added.Though the place was a bit far out from the MRT stations, there are actually free shuttles bus available from Yishun, Sembawang to SSC (Sembawang Shopping Centre). In my opinion, the White Bee Hoon is indeed worth a try.Read More

After seeing queues after queues at this place, I decide to have a early lunch here to avoid the crowds. Seafood White Bee Hoon ($8)At first plan to order a single person serving since we just want to have a try but not planning for a full meal here. Kind of being forced by the staff to order middle sized serving. The taste of the bee hoon is actually in a simple home cooked style way. Not really that die die have type.Stir Fried Fish Head in Bean Paste Sauce ($13)Father is annoyed that the order looks small, and the serving does not have the look of a full fish head. Feel like been make a fool of.Sweet Potato Leaves ($7)Another simple to cook dish. Would prefer it with minced dried shrimp. Taste a bit lacking.Overall the food here is much below expectation. Not something that I would be willing to queue an hour for it type.Read More

Good:- Simple yet delicious bee hoon! Totally addictive!- Generous portion of seafood and vegetable together with the bee hoon.Bad:- Not near the mrt.- It is so popular that the queues during lunch and dinner time would be very long.Overall:By far the best and most addictive bee hoon that i've ever eaten! Have gone there twice and will continue going there again in future. Will definitely recommend it to friends!Read More

Huge signboard to seen, it stated “Bai Mee Hoon” in large font size. I was finally here, longing it for quite a period. I heard many good comments around, the eatery was undoubtfully famous. The disadvantage was the location, not accessible to any MRT station.Fried thin white Meehoon here was in watery version, legendary delicious. Generously given of fresh prawns and squids, the portion was just nice for one serving, $5.00. Powerful chilli was giving soul to entire, as well as a drizzle of lime. The non-sticky broth was satisfying upon the first mouthful scoop. Savoury gravy kept absorbing up by Meehoon itself, it was getting tastier until the end.Read More

This is definitely not the first time i had this ! Whenever me and my friends are nearby in Sembawang area with a budget constraint, we will head down to here. It is cheap, affordable and tasty! Even though it will not be delicious as it was when it is hot but, it's still great! You can chill and chit chat a bit when you are having your dinner. Sometimes you will need to be a little early to avoid the dinner crowds. There is always a lonnggggggg Q when it comes to dinner time. You just got to wait a bit for a delicious and affordable dinner! MUST ORDER! MUST ORDER!Read More

Was surprised to see the previous review mentioning about prawn noodles but verified true in my recent visit. Not sure if its the same kitchen but they do sell prawn noodles till 11am in the morning now. Anyway i was here at 4pm, thankful i do not need to go thru the queue waiting which this place is famous for. Ordered a $8 medium plate of bai mee fen, $10 hay zhou and $8 sambal potato leaves. IMO, there is no other stall that came close to this wet version of the bee hoon, the toa payoh hong yun stall did not even come close. The quantity for the $8 portion was good perfect for 2 to share, sotong, prawns, vege, egg and a nice sweet gravy base makes up this dish. This time i felt the hay zhou was a little off form though and was smaller in size. The potato leaves is nice and spicy. Total bill was $26. The ice jelly is payable separately at $2.20 per cup, pretty standard item in nowadays. the jelly are not self made but comes in cup forms.Read More

Went there for work, had breakfast ordered 'hey mee kuay teow soup' aka prawn kuay teow. Waiting time not really long, service is good. Inside got very 2 big prawns, think should be tiger prawns, minced meat, kangkong, shrimps (which you can add yourself). The soup base is very nice, super delicious until finish the whole bowl of soup. Pricing wise is quite expensive. Total spent $5. Will revisit again. Read More

Ordered the popular White Bee Hoon (白米粉) at You Huak Restaurant which is located near Sembawang Shopping Centre. The dish was pretty healthy as it was not too oily and there were vegetables in it too. The serving of the White Bee Hoon was just nice, not too little. The taste of the White Bee Hoon was pretty delicious despite judging that it may taste blandly and unappealing when looking at it. Also, the White Bee Hoon was soft and chewy. The price of this dish was affordable although the place may not be accessible to people who don't live near there. Read More

I had a chance to patron the famous white bee hoon which located along Japan Tempang, Sembawang. You Huak Restaurant , occupying a corner shophouse unit which is just opposite the Sembawang Shopping Centre. The location wasn’t that convenient though as you need to take a bus from Sembawang MRT station to get there. Photo of people queuing for dinner. The restaurant is an open-air eatery which was light up with very bright cool white fluorescent lamps on evening onwards. They served range of zhi char dishes which was all listed on their menu. All the available dishes are shown on the laminated menu so that customers can just order directly from the categorized dishes. The signature dish, Seafood White Bee Hoon @ S$12.00 (L) served in generous portion. The wok hei was there and the moist of the bee hoon stir-fried with the seafoods (prawns, squids, eggs and vegetables) tasted similar to Hokkien mee.But the bee hoon taste lighter than Hokkien mee. It tasted delicious while it is hot. The dish is quite addictive too as we can’t stop having it for several rounds.Indo-styled Fried Chicken Wing @$16.00 (L)- Taste is ok only although it is cooked with stripped gingers to add up the taste. No much to rave about it but it would taste better when it is pipping hot as you can taste the crispiness of the skin.Sambal Kang Kong @$12.00 (L) does not taste spicy as it looks. It taste as same standard as other zi char stalls as well.Omelette with prawns @S$9.00 (L) . It taste same as normal zi char stall.Calamari / Fried Sotong @S$10.00 (S) tasted crispy as it looks. You need to have it while it is hot and dipped them with the ready served mayonnaise. It can be addictive once you start having it while it is still crispy. If you wish to give it a try, you may want to avoid peak hours especially weekends and also night time. Although the signature bee hoon was highly recommended, I will not queue for more than 15 minutes for it.Blogged: http://hazeldiary.com/?cat=4Read More

My aunt introduced me the white bee hoon roughly 5 years back. I instantly fell in love with it. However, I felt the standard dropped as time went by. I've frequented the place less and longed for the standard to return. Monday, I found myself back at this coffee shop stall, courtesy of Open Rice for a food tasting session. Perhaps, they'll do it better this time round as they know we're reviewing the food. True enough, it was as good as I remembered.White Bee HoonCooked in broth like the fried Hokkien noodle, the bee hoon absorbs its delightful and flavourful seafood taste. It's so good that you'll be slurping off the bee hoon with the broth in no time. This is the famous dish that draws crowds to this place. You probably can't find this anywhere else. Yummy! The only thing that'll spoil this is the stall owners themselves, lowering their standard, probably to cut cost. Let's hope they'll keep up the standard outside the review session.Fried Chicken WingsWhen we were served the chicken wings, the aroma was so nice and strong that I was resisting my urge to grab them before the pictures were taken by fellow reviewers. I pounced on it on the first chance with my hands, in the process, destroyed my image in front of the others. However, I was a little disappointed. The taste wasn't as good as the fragrance gave off. Cooked with finely stripped gingers that adds a little twist to the taste, it's just slightly above average due to its dryness.Calamari (Fried Sotong)It was crispy and nice on the outside. Can't really taste the sotong inside though. Overall, it's still very nice. Be sure to eat it while it's hot.Kang Kong, Omelette with prawnsThey're nicely done. One you will expect from a typical Zi Char stall.ConclusionI will continue to frequent this place if they keep up with the standard of the white Bee Hoon. If you are coming from Sembawang MRT, do consider taking the free shuttle service to Sembawang Shopping Centre. This place is just opposite. Avoid coming here during peak hours. The queue can be very long.Read More

I've been eating at this place for quite a few years already, but less so recently as me and my hubby felt their standard was dropping. We were glad to give the place another try though, with the kind invitation from OpenRice for a food tasting here. So, let's see how it fares yeah?Firstly, there's an improvement to the queue system. Well....there was no queue system before, so especially during weekends, it's a nightmare to get a table there as it's a free-for-all fight. At least now there's a designated queue area.Of course if you're here, one will not fail to order their signature white beehoon. It is simmered in their delicious broth and the beehoon is really soft and absorbs the sweet seafood flavors very well. The prawns and squid were all very fresh. I was very happy to see that their standard has returned this time. Will come incognito again next time to check out the consistency...- Seafood white beehoon ($12,large)Another recommended dish is their fried calamari. Try to have it piping hot so that the crunchiness is retained. It's simply marinated with salt and pepper and coated with a tasty batter that is not too thick but coats the calamari evenly. It's really addictive...I kept popping them into my mouth non-stop..LOL- Calamari ($10, small)The indo-style fried chicken wings were a bit of a disappointment though. Besides having what looks like fine hair sticking out from the wings (Aha, they are just fine ginger slices, do not fear!), the meat was quite dry within. Nothing special, probably good to give a miss. - Chicken wings ($16, large)Well, the omelette was ok, the prawns within fresh and juicy.- Prawn Omelette ($9, large)The sambal kang kong was good, with plenty of dried shrimp and belachan. Another recommended dish to order here.- Sambal Kang Kong ($12, large)The bill came up to around $80 for our group of 7, which is rather affordable. This place is definitely worth a try if you are driving by! :)Read More

Sembawang is generally not a really accessible place unless one drives a car. The regulars of this place are residents who live nearby and many of them drive. You Huak RestaurantYou Huak Restaurant is famous for it's White Bee Hoon. They come in 3 different portions. Small, $4.50. Medium, $6.00 and Large, $12.00.I came here with my friends and we ordered 2 large plates of White Bee Hoon. It was superbly awesome! One of my friend came here before and mentioned that the White Bee Hoon that day was exceptionally nice. Every strand of bee hoon was coated with seafood broth and oh so flavourful. The prawns and sotong were really fresh. Calamari. Available in 3 portion sizes as well, $10, $15 and $20. Seasoned with salt and pepper, the calamari was really tasty and fragrant when served piping hot. Sambal Kangkong, $7.00, $10.00 and $12.00. Indo-style Fried Chicken Wing, $6, $10, $15. Prawn omelette, available in 2 sizes, $6 and $9.The drinks were kind of pricey though. 8 cups consisting of barley and sour plum drink cost close to $15. Would definitely come back for more though.
