Hubby and I went to Natas Fair at the Singapore Expo, hoping to get some good travel deals. We had our lunch first at "Yummy Chopsticks" at Expo before going to the exhibition halls. The fried rice photo in the menu looked so appetizing and it tempted me to order their fried rice. I saw this fried rice on almost every other tables too. However, it tasted like those fried rice designed for kids, with lots of mixed vegetables which I didn't really like. For Mango and Shrimp pancakes, the flattened shrimps could be found in between the mango and the skin of the pancake. Not really good. Shrimps were quite mashed up.For Crispy Tofu, I liked these big fried wanton with tofu inside but the bottom part of the skin was very oily.Their Xiao Long Bao definitely cannot be compared with those restaurant type of standard. The skin was thick and inside was not juicy. continue reading

I have been to several dim sum restaurants, and Yummy Chopsticks probably has the best lava custard buns They are slighter bigger than normal custard buns I had tasted and their fillings are pouring out like liquid gold.A definite must try! They serve a variety of other dim sum too, but they were quite average. One point to note, although it is stated that it operates from 11am onwards, don't bother going 11am on the dot. I'd made an reservation at 11am but when I reached, they were still preparing and not ready for customers ): We only got served at around 11.30-11.45am. continue reading

Saw this restaurant on deal.com.sg and my family of 5 decided to head down to try their buffet. One of the worst food decisions that we have made so far.Bad Points: 1. Every deep fried dish had this really bad oil taste and smell that makes one nauseous, probably due to the oil being used for many batches.2. Xiao Long Bao was more skin than meat and really hard to chew.3. Even though the buffet was ala carte ordering style, some dim sum arrived cold. After this experience, our family will never patronize this restaurant again. The only upside that night was the okay service that the waiters and waitresses provided. No reason to go back to that restaurant at all continue reading

Bought 4 deals which are the same as those commented below. Went with my family. The restaurant extended the deal for a month because there were too many people who have bought the vouchers. The environment was okay but the tables were to small for a dim sum buffet. We were given a menu which was different from the original menu as ours were buffet (acceptable). We then ordered the first round. The food took at least 15min to arrive when there were only 2-3 tables at that time. The few buffet spread that were for self-service were not acceptable especially the century egg porridge. When we ordered our 2nd round, it took even more time to arrive. The staff were seen talking by themselves & laughing. The carrot cake that we ordered were hard & cold (when it took so long to arrive thinking it should be "hot from the oven"?). There were also many items on the menu that were not available..Do you still call it buffet?? Finally, we ordered our desserts from a guy & it took forever to arrive until we had to ask another staff. It only took less than 2 min to arrive when we told that staff. First & the last time visiting the place. continue reading

We have booked 5 e-vouchers online and make reservation on 16th June 2012 for 5pax at Yummy Chopsticks at 6pm.On the actual day morning, two more friends decided to join us for dinner and didn't mind paying the actual price. My friend called Yummy Chopsticks to book for the additional of 2pax BUT there was no response. We arrived at the venue at 6.10pm and requested for a bigger table as we have 7pax instead of 5pax. This China waitress turned us down flatly citing that the big tables are being reserved. We told her that we tried calling to inform them of the additional of 2pax, but she told us that we should call the handphone instead of the restaurant telephone number. She suggested that she could put a small table to join the table that was reserved for us (the 5pax) and squeeze all 7pax around the table. Our stand point is, there were vacant 5 tables meant for 8pax, why can't she let us have one and let us eat in comfort? However, the waitress refused us and insisted that all 5 big tables were reserved. I am utterly disappointed with the inflexibility and unfriendiness staff and manager for not being able to accede to a customer's request. Therefore, we demand Deal.com for the refund for the 5pax that we had paid for. continue reading
