They offer a wide variety of dishes including salmon sashimi! Of course, all mock meat lah! Wonder how the mock sashimi taste.

We visited for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and the restaurant was about half full. The menu was impressively long with everything from faux sashimi to bento boxes to "meat" skewers to soups... and we ordered the veg tempura and a few different sushi rolls.

The veg tempura came first and was average, and then the platter of sushi arrived. It looked BEAUTIFUL! Whoever creates their sushi is an artist. The fake salmon even had little fat lines running through it.

However, eating it was a disappointment. The faux fish is made from some kind of gelatin and is completely flavorless. I guess you don't want it to actually taste like fish, but maybe it would be better if it was kind of sour like the Japanese pickle? The only roll I actually liked was the one with a generous slice of avocado.

While it was definitely a unique concept, I doubt we'll be back -- we have more satisfying sushi meals just going to Sushi Tei and ordering from the limited veg. selection.

This was my 2nd visit after a good one year plus. That time we ordered their set meals, presentation wise, they were eye catching and tempting. Most importantly it has good “wok qi”, only commercial stove could give out the high flame, at home would never achieve this.

I will return for simple vegetarian food, I will skip their set meals.

Visited Zen Japanese Vegetarian Restaurant twice in a month. Very reasonable pricing for delicious food. The pictures later will do the description Although it located not very near Bugis MRT station, however do expect crowds especially after office hours. Would recommend to do reservation before heading down if you do not expect to wait. Will definitely visit them again!
