I normally do not eat tau suan as I find the taste to be quite cloying after a few bites. Nonetheless, I decided to buy it since I was going to share it with my mum. The tau suan is actually yellow beans that have been cooked for a long time. The beans are quite soft and the mixture is not too thick nor too watery. The you tiao that was added to the top of the tau suan is not soggy as well, and it is still slightly crispy. I find that if you get tired of the taste after a while, pairing it with the you tiao will help in making the taste less cloying. This bowl of tau suan costs $1.30 if I remember correctly.

This is a popular stall selling traditional desserts like different type of tang yuan, bubur hitam, red/green bean soup, black sesame paste and also tau suan. All are priced at $1.20 with additional of 0.10 cents if taking away. The beans did not have the powdery texture but the taste was pretty alright with the right level of sweetness. Apparently, i do not eat enough of tau suan to differentiate the bad from the good ones. And, i was amazed when the Auntie made an extra effort to separate the you tiao to avoid the you tiao to get too soggy.
