Ramen Santouka is one of the best Japanese ramen restaurant in Singapore. It's my favourite destination for ramen. It's not only favourite-ed by many people, in fact I've known of chefs (not in the Japanese cuisine line) giving it the thumbs-up.The first time I tried it, I was blown away. The first time I tried it, I was blown away. So impressed, that I promised myself to go back to try every single ramen flavour on their entire menu. Tokusen Toroniku Ramen (Shio)
This is such a luxury! The taste of the broth is so deep and intense. There was just so much taste going on in the soup, like an intricate piece of art with many beautiful layers in between, formed into a bigger piece of masterpiece. In the region of Hokkaido in Japan, the people often eat their food slightly heavier and oilier, because of the year-round winter climax, so expect this ramen to be on the heavier side.
The roasted pork cheeks served on the side are extremely valuable, because only very little cheek meat can be taken from each pig. It is rare and considered a delicacy. The meat is just like fatty tuna, melt-in-your-mouth texture, and is so rich, tasty and tender that it is really heavenly.
I also ordered an extra gyoza to go with my meal. The meat is well-marinated and flavourful, with the skin fried till crispy and fragrant. Caramel pudding
I understand from the staff that most people visit the store for ramen and therefore overlook the desserts. I tried this caramel pudding and it was awesome. The caramel pudding was so soft and melty, topped with burnt caramel sauce. The resulting flavour is an array of sweet and innocent yet slightly burnt fragrance of caramel. Too good!
