FoodGinza Bairin was specialised in their Tonkatsu and was located at the basement area in Ion orchard among the food kiosk. My last visits was in Aug 2011. During then, queues were long and that is the best tonkatsu I ever find in malls. Queues arent that long nowadays and there are ample of seating in the shop as compared to 2 years back. They operate in a different manner unlike most of the Japanese restaurants in Singapore. Customers have to queue and pay first, thereafter you will be given

They operate in a different manner unlike most of the Japanese restaurants in Singapore. Customers have to queue and pay first, thereafter you will be given a number tag and your food will be served to you once ready.
The curry sauce that comes along is thick and gluey, full of Japanese style curry. This curry smell & taste still lingers around my mouth a few hours after the meal.
The staff are not very pro-active, when they see customers reading their menu, they are still chit chatting.
Ambience
The tables in the shop are placed too closely together, I saw one of the customer got knock against the chair and then the table. 2 Hits in a few seconds.
We are able to see the kitchen through this view in the shop. It's easier for customer to gauge the readiness of their order.
If you were to ask me, I would prefer Saboten Pork's Cutlet to this as Ginza Bairin's tonkatsu is a bit dryer.
Price
The total amount spent for 2 set meals complete with drinks. Comparing with its competitor, they offered free flow of salad and rice. I would rather pay a little bit more at their competitor's as theirs comes with dessert (matcha ice cream).
