Decided to go to Sun Moulin to get my breakfast buns and try their croquette bun (I've heard from my relatives about it so I thought I should give it a try since I'm at the Isetan basement.) This morning, I selected two of the mini buns: Ham&Cheese and their chocolate croissant. The chocolate croissant was just out of the oven so it was nice and hot, and just-right crispy on the outside. It was flaky, like how I liked my pastry to be and the chocolate inside was quite delicate-tasting, not too overpowering nor sweet. The ham & cheese bun was not too bad either, bun was fluffy and the top cheese layer was crispy. I had gone in the morning, so most of the bread is freshly made -and that's when it tastes the best!

The croquette bun was something new though -it was literally a croquette stuffed inside a bun. I liked it more than I expected to! The croquette wasn't really crispy (I didn't expect it to be, honestly, it was stuffed inside a bun) but the taste was not bad. It tasted sweet from the potato but it was savoury on the whole. It actually complemented the soft bun really well.

I spent $1.70 on the croquette bun and 60c each on the mini pastry/bun. The mini buns are going for 3 at $1.80 though! Sun Moulin really proves to be a bakery that is a cut above the rest in terms of quality. The buns aren't too heavy on flavour nor on oil. Truly delicate! Service was also quite efficient and I liked that briskness, especially with the morning crowd wanting to get bread before they head off to work.
