Ordered a pork chop rice takeaway for dinner at $4. I've been eating this same plate of pork chop rice since I was 9 and it holds fond memories for me. The plate of rice has remained unchanged -the generous, standard-sized pork chop, the rice with gravy over it, the salted vegetables and mixed vegetables. It may all seem like an odd combination at first sight but when you actually try it for yourself, it attains a whole new level of amazing.Just look at the texture of the pork chop + salted veg!

The pork chop isn't overly floury and is satisfactorily flavoursome. The taste does not drown out the juiciness of the meat when you bite into it -heavenly! Eaten with mouthfuls of the salted vegetable, it balances out the cloying, oily taste of the fried pork chop. The salted vegetable is well cooked -its texture is still slightly crunchy and provides a pleasant harmonising element that complements the entire dish.

The chilli served tastes spicy at first, and then the others flavours start to spread on your tongue -a mix of sweet and sour amidst the initial kick of the chilli. There is also a hint of garlic, and this beautiful concoction goes deliciously with the pork chop.

For this dish, everything seems like strange, isolated ingredients that don't really seem to match. Believe me, when you've tried it for yourself, it's a different story. Everything falls into place, and every ingredient is purposeful. The flavours aren't overpowering and its simplicity proves to be delicious. The taste remains consistent over the years and hopefully it stays this way for many more years to come!
