It was a lovely quiet Friday evening and I was meeting a bunch of friends to have our Christmas gathering at Loola's. Have heard rave reviews about the place so we decided to dine there. I had the Duck Pangang and it was quite delish. This is an asian spiced duck leg with red cabbage and it was savory and tender - practically falling off the bone! The red cabbage provided a nice tangy crunch to compliment the duck which can be a tad greasy if eaten by itself. However there were bits of spices in

I had the Duck Pangang and it was quite delish. This is an asian spiced duck leg with red cabbage and it was savory and tender - practically falling off the bone! The red cabbage provided a nice tangy crunch to compliment the duck which can be a tad greasy if eaten by itself. However there were bits of spices in it that made a few bites a tad too bitter. Did not like those apples though as they were way too sour.

My friends had The Spatchcock which serves 2 people. It contains one whole pan roasted chicken served with a medley of vegetables and comes with a serving bowl of sauce/stock. I tried some of it and the chicken was quite good but it wasn't salty enough so you must dip some of the sauce to compliment it. The vegetables were so-so. Quite bland and nothing fantastic.

Then comes the dessert! Since Loola's is owned by Awfully Chocolate, we have high expectations of the desserts and were not disappointed. The Loola's Brownie is highly recommended. The is what they mean by death by chocolate. The chocolate is so moist, luscious and decadent! Chocolate lovers will fawn over this. The top of the brownie is covered with a layer of salted butterscotch which is fantastic! The combination of salty and sweet is really awesome, paired with some cold vanilla ice cream.

Another good dessert is the Banofee Tart. It is basically a tart with caramelized bananas, custard, browned butter and vanilla ice cream. I love the tart base...it tasted like oatmeal cookies. And the banana soaked in some gooey caramel and custard was super shiok!

We decided to have the Lemon Yogurt Cake as it sounded like a lighter dessert compared to the first two, but it was damn big! It was quite lemony and light, but it didn't fare quite as well as the others. I'm not a big fan of citrus desserts anyways.

Overall, it was a good dinner and we enjoyed ourselves especially as it was quite peaceful that night. Recommended to head to Loola's for a bite if you're in the area.
