It used to be quite popular with never ending queue. One had to queue for at least 30 minutes for a table during meal times. But with new restaurants popping out around, the queue is no longer around. The Japanese family style restaurant specializes in teishoku (set meals that come with rice and soup). We are served hot green tea which is refillable.
As both of us order set meal, which comes with chawanmushi. It tastes smooth and light.

The hamburger steak is quite juicy and meaty, and goes quite well with the plain looking tomato sauce.
Steam Rice with Scallop and Soup ($19.50/ Set, $11.50/ Steam Rice with Scallop, $7/ Soup)For the set, it comes with a choice of "Egg Soup" or Vegetable Soup".
I have the vegetable soup which is quite gluey with lots of vegetables such as carrots, dried bean curd, okra and daikon.
The steam rice is served in a bamboo steamer over a small stove. The rice (mixed with seaweed) is very soft and gives a hint of taste of the sea. The scallops are quite juicy.Overall the food is still great as before. Service is not bad too. A great and quiet place to have good & affordable Japanese food in Orchard area.
