I, together with my boyfriend and his parents went to the famous Pow Sing Restaurant at Serangoon Gardens. As usual, there was a long queue outside, so we waited. We ordered their Nonya Fish Head Curry. After all, this is a food business and it is only natural for me to expect more from it. My mum’s Fish Head curry could easily win this hands-down.
Even my boyfriend didn’t quite like it. He took nothing more than a few small bits of the fish cos the taste was too strong for his liking. *?* Beats me too.
How can you call yourself a Singaporean when you don’t like fish head curry? Haha. But it meant more for the rest of us!
We also had the Sambal Cuttlefish Kang Kong. Taste wise, not bad. But what I really loved about this dish was the cuttlefish. It was melt-in-your-mouth smooth and soft.
And we ordered one spicy otah for each of us. Perhaps one of the best otahs I’ve tasted. Really good.
Those who’ve visited this restaurant would already know that the steamed chicken here is a popular favourite. Quite honestly though, it wasn’t meeting my expectations that evening. It's supposed to be good, but turned out not to be as tender and tasty as expected.
I would recommend this place for dinner. Just remember to come early!
