I am a real sucker for desserts, and when it comes to green tea ice cream? My soul has been sold. It only takes 2 things to win me over: complexity of the tastes and presentation. I could never eat an ugly brownie, unless it was really out of this world extraordinary.

At Honeymoon Dessert, anyone can tell you that they're here for the fusion desserts. The best of the East & the West - HK/Cantonese influences with a unique western twist. I decided to try one of their new desserts: Coconut juice w sago in vanilla sauce w green tea ice cream. At $5.50, this is a real good deal. It may sound odd at first - coconut?? green tea?? 'Are you certain about this!' I asked myself before deciding hey, I only have this one life to try all the desserts I want.

The coconut provides a very rich finish to the smooth sago. The grass jelly is chewy and slightly harder in comparison to those chinchow you will find at wet markets. I think they home-make their grass jelly for the desired texture, which is really nice. The green tea ice cream isn't the most fantastic, but it has a distinctive tea aroma which leaves a slight aftertaste. The smooth and rich coconut + vanilla provides an aromatic and flavoursome base for the textured grass jelly -the role of the green tea is subtle but significant as it blends a sophisticated twist into this otherwise uncolorful dessert. It gives the whole dessert an added dimension of flavour as it's no longer just smooth, sweet and rich. There's a slight bitterness that slowly changes to sweetness when you feel the creamy ice cream + vanilla sauce spread on your tongue. It's a divine experience that should be experienced by everyone.

This extraordinary dessert really proves to be a holy matrimony of ingredients that are seemingly strange when put together. I came and tried it for the green tea, but my heart is staying for the dessert as a whole. Delicious dessert, great price and efficient service. I hope they make this dessert a permanent item!
