Disappointed that I was not able to eat my Simpang Bedok Yong Tau Foo at 301 Changi Road due to the closure of the shop, I decided to take a stroll along Joo Chiat Road to find some interesting food.

Spotted Sri Bistari and ordered two packets of Ayam Penyet take-away for lunch.

Each packet cost S$5.50.

While the lady boss was reheating the chicken breast for my take-away, I could smell the fragrance of the chicken from the deep fryer.

There was a big piece of deep fried Ayam Penyet (smashed fried chicken)with a few pieces of keropok and cucumber slices.

A packet of soup and a small tub of sambal to go along with the meal.

I cant wait to savour the chicken flesh.

When I reached home, I quickly unpack the lunch box and to my surprise I saw the huge piece of chicken looked very dry though fragrant. The meat was tough and difficult to chew.

The nasi (rice) was fluffy and tasty and has the same flavour as the Hainanese chicken rice.

The soup was tasty with sprinkled of fried shallots.

The sambal has the taste of prawn paste. Surprisingly the chilli paste was not hot unlike other Ayam Penyet outlets.

It would have been a perfect lunch if the chicken meat was much tender.

I believed the toughness and the dryness of the chicken meat could have resulted from the several attempts of reheating the chicken from previous day supply.
