All along I only know Vietnam cuisine for its famous beef pho & spring rolls, till curiosity of the perpetual long queue at Nam Nam caught my attention. Whenever I passed by this outlet during lunch hour, I will see people queuing for the Vietnam style baguette. Today was really lucky as my colleague & I saw that there were not many people waiting for a table & we got in pretty fast! Banh Mi actually refers to all kinds of bread but it usually refers to the baguette which is commonly found in Vietnam, introduced during the French colonial period.
Oh my! When the baguette was presented to us in a basket, it's really huge! Thou it is a 6-inch one, but the bread definitely looks bigger than my usual Subway sandwich! The baguette was really nice, with a crispy outer crust & soft inside.
On closer scrutiny of the ingredients that goes into my Grilled Chicken, it contains Chinese parsley, shredded carrots, red chilli, cucumbers & a spread of chicken pate. I also put some dose of Vietnam chilli sauce to go with. Somehow, this combination is very satiating to my taste bud! It's really a surprise as this is my 1st time eating a Banh Mi! For $5.90, I would rate this as a really satisfying & filling lunch! I shall return to try the beef pho lunch set next time.
