Not sure what drove me to try this, because I normally avoid fried chicken at all costs for the high calorie intake. This is the Signature Ayam Penyet ($7.90), which includes a bowl of rice (not captured in the picture). The chicken has a really very crispy skin and tender chicken meat underneath it, but the portion is a bit too small. It looks huge but quite a bit was bone. It was my maiden Ayam Penyet attempt ... Objectively the taste is good, portion is too small for me (it is definitely filling, since it is fried). But don't think I'll be trying again because fried chicken really isn't my thing and I was really only curious. A little too expensive, in my opinion.

You are warned - The chilli on the side is super spicy! I was again, curious, so I just tried a very small bit of it (less than a 5 cent coin size) and it just torched my tongue immediately when a continuous burning aftertaste from the tip of my tongue to the base of my throat. Not an exaggeration at all. I stayed away from that molehill of chilli for the rest of my meal. Curiosity burnt the cat T_T

Service-wise... it was not memorable but in a way, that's good I guess. Minimal waiting time.

There's a 10% discount for employees in offices around Orchard and also for students!
