I headed down to Mellben at Toa Payoh as I knew that the original one at AMK will be a long wait. My friend told me that there is two floors at this outlet and the upper floor was air-con'ed. I headed down to Mellben at Toa Payoh as I knew that the original one at AMK will be a long wait. My friend told me that there is two floors at this outlet and the upper floor was air-con'ed. I called up in the afternoon for a table with friends at 7pm, I asked for the upper floor with the air con. Upon reaching, I was disappointed
that firstly there was no table ready resulting in a 20 mins wait and that the person at the other end did not take down my request and we ended up with a table out in the open. As usual, there is no price listed on its menu. The auntie keep pressurizing us to order more crabs
and when we decided that 2 x 1kg crabs are enough for a table of 8, she showed a black face. She subsequently recommended us a chicken dish and said it is a must try without telling us the price. When the dish came, we were shock it is not so much a chicken but a "Pen-Chai" that cost almost a hundred bucks!
A simple dinner ended up with a hole in our pocket due to bad service and borderline cheat tendency from the staff. The crab at this branch is also not as good as the one at AMK!! I will never go back to this branch again.
