Second time at Timbre @ The Arts House but my impression of it hasn't changed much. In a nutshell, superbly good and very expensive food, classy ambience and terrible service. GST & Service Charge applies. Let me introduce the food first: We ordered: Hawaiian BBQ Pizza ($19++) : I like this classic favourite a lot here, they manage to permeate the tasty flavour throughout the entire pizza and I can't have enough of this. We ordered: Hawaiian BBQ Pizza ($19++) : I like this classic favourite a lot here, they manage to permeate the tasty flavour throughout the entire pizza and I can't have enough of this. Timbre Fried Chicken ($14++): Quite overly burnt on the outside but the meat is juicy and tender - perfectly done. It's not very photogenic though. Roasted Duck Pizza ($21++): It is drizzled with the roasted duck sauce and with quite generous servings of duck (but then again it's so expensive). It's also pretty good - pizzas at Timbre never fail to impress. I prefer the Hawaiian BBQ pizza though. Tequila Sunrise ($15++): I'm totally not a good alcohol judge at all, but I think it's quite enjoyable. The alcohol taste is just a hint in the background and it is mostly fruity taste. There's also a sweet cherry inside.
The service is really bad. It hasn't moved on from the last time I visited, which was nearly 7 months ago. The waiters/waitresses whisper to us when they communicate, and we cannot hear them at all. It's as though they are talking to themselves. There wasn't a band playing and the general environment is quite quiet already so I was quite baffled by why they still sound so soft to us.
Timbre also has this rule that everyone has to order a drink because it was a public holiday (not applicable the last time I went on National Day, strangely) - ok, but the prices of the drinks were ridiculous. $9++ for a Sprite/Orange Juice.
Although the food was really delicious, I don't think the prices are justified. I still felt fleeced just like the first time I went.
Overall the ambience is classy and pleasant.
