After a rather disappointing dinner at Hangoga Korean restaurant, my boyfriend and I were looking for a place to have coffee and dessert at Marina Bay Sands. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf was the obvious choice, but since the queue was ridiculously long we kept looking and found Java Detour, which turned out to be a pleasant surprise.

First, there was no problem getting a table here. It's located on the ground floor near some boutiques, and at 9pm there was only one other occupied table.

Second, they serve better coffee. Their beans are organic and roasted in small batches, so it just tastes fresher and with more rich flavor.

Third, their brownie actually tasted like a brownie is supposed to, not like chocolate cake. It was ooey, gooey, chocolate overload - they even added extra chocolate sauce.

Fourth, the prices were very reasonable. Two brownies and one coffee were around $12. Can't complain about those prices at MBS.

Anyway, I know it's an unfamiliar brand name, but definitely worth having a coffee here instead of the usual spots.
