To start things off: the ice cream is good. The flavours are unique and I especially enjoy the sea salt hojicha. Unfortunately, this is where my praise ends. I really wanted to like Birds of Paradise. I love unique ice cream flavours, especially floral and tea-based ones, and I try to support local businesses - but the multiple negative interactions I've experienced here have left me with a sour taste in my mouth. The staff literally attempt to police how you eat your ice cream, most recently go
Why does it matter if I share my ice cream, so long as I've paid for it? Why is it ok to randomly double their stated charges for extra cups on a whim? If this is the policy they've decided on, that's fine - just don't post conflicting information on the menu and condescend your customers when they try to understand what's happening.
Is this an earth-shattering issue? Of course not. In the grand scheme of things, it's minor, and it's always important to remember that individual employees aren't responsible for the policies.
