A new western food restaurant popped up under my block a month ago. From what I see after staying in this area for 18 years, this unit's tenants come and go each year. So I decided to give it a try and see if it's going to stay for good.I popped in around lunch time, just in time for their set lunch promo. Ordered a grilled chicken for myself and grilled pork for my dad. The lunch promo is $10 nett for each set, and it comes with a main course, soup and drink. I say it's an ok price for a set me
Service is prompt and service crews are friendly. Ambience wasn't fantastic at all with just white walls, a wall picture, post it notes and Ikea furniture. I was mildly delighted when they served up their soup of the day, something that wasn't cream of mushroom, or cream-of-something, like what other western restaurants normally serve up. I didn't remember the name of the soup, but it had lots of onions in it, and tasted ok.
The grilled chicken was very well marinated, and the flavour was right, but it was a bit too salty. The texture of the meat was soft and juicy. The mashed potato was one of the best I ever tasted. The white cream sauce complimented the mashed potato very well. Vegetables in the side salad were average with ordinary fresh vegetables.
I like it when I don't get to choose what sauce to go with my food when I’m eating at a western restaurant. First, it stops me from picking black pepper sauce over everything else, and secondly, it tells me the chef knows exactly what sauce will go best with the food served. I had a pleasant surprise when I tasted their grilled pork and had wine sauce! It was something special and it tasted great!
In conclusion, the food was good, and it's best to take advantage of their set lunch offer. I would come to this restaurant again to try other specials on the menu.
