My parents always had a thing to purchase dozen boxes of mooncakes every mid-autumn festival and send them to their clients's office as a gift. This year was no less. My parents always had a thing to purchase dozen boxes of mooncakes every mid-autumn festival and send them to their clients's office as a gift. This year was no less. Swissotel Merchant Court had a promotion of giving a pair of weekend high-tea buffet vouchers for every 2 boxes of 4 mooncake purchased and of course this attracted many customers including my parents.

With that, lead to myself receiving a pair from them for my boyfriend and I. We went there on a Saturday late afternoon in the month of September, and I was amazed to see the colourful varireties of not just baked snacks like pastries, tarts and cakes but also other small bites such as otah, satay, sashimi, cold chicken, kueh pai tee, etc. For heavier items, they had nasi lemak(I liked the fried chicken wings), japanese cold soba, laksa, roti john, etc. Well actually the theme and cuisine genre of the cafe is peranakan and most of the food items do belong there. Their 'kueh kueh corner' consisted of kueh dadar, 7 layer rainbow kueh, kueh lapis, ang ku kueh and others but to my dissapointment, they weren't fantastic as expected. Some were cold and hard.. perhaps because of the air-condition? Same applied to the sandwiches and chiffon cakes.

However on the positive side, I like the fact that they had both warm and cold desserts. Warm desserts were like almond paste, bread pudding, red bean soup, tang yuan, peanut paste, etc. Cold desserts were fruits, ice-kachang and durian/chempedak puree. Not too bad even though too much would no doubt make you feel 'gelat'.

Staff service was praisable as they made it a point to keep consistacy to clear our plates and served coffee/tea when kindly requested.

What a fufilling high-tea to start our evening.
