I first encountered the place, briefly saw first in Suntec, where it was such a secretive place because it's at the end, and it's surrounded by retail stores instead of restaurants, but my cousin told me that it was visible instead when passing from the bus at the Suntec Boulevard (seen from outside).Anyhow, I went here for my birthday celebration; I usually choose places that looks great but won't spend too much as I have a budget! Anyhow, I went here for my birthday celebration; I usually choose places that looks great but won't spend too much as I have a budget! But as I'm a trained eater to scour great places, and this is new, my family never knew such restaurant exists. It's my first time to eat there as well, but I had my faith in them as I'm a Korean freak, and by knowing that it was a Korean branch I immediately set foot to the manager and planned all out.
There were hiccups when planning, I went to the place about a month before D-day and the manager didn't get back to me after two weeks of a request to create a menu with my budget. It was annoying to wait for the reply and I went there again and finally he got back to me.
D-day itself, the place was pretty full, and they're prepared the long table for me. The environment was nice and it looks like a very expensive bistro place, however the price range is just amazingly unbelievable for a place like this. The private room is awesome as well, but it only can cater 8 seats
Journey of eating garlic, start!
Starters were choice of Garlic Bread Tower and Caesar Salad.
Let me tell you how I was surprised when they served the starters!
Garlic Tower was not the usual garlic bread we get to see in most restaurants: sliced and topped with melted cheese/garlic/butter/etc. It was placed vertically, with all the garlic topping on top. You may wonder how you'll be able to eat it/how to slice it and share, but the waitress would suddenly smash the top and chuck everything inside - it's like destroying the bread! But there it was, served mixed with the garlic all over inside.
Note: I'm a garlic lover, I can eat garlic cloves like that when steamed (like in bakuteh or samgyeopsal) so nothing's too heavy for me here. And it's healthy! So it tastes just nice for me and i know it's healthy.
The next was Caesar salad and boy, did I believe it now when the manager told me "starters are shared with 2" but it was enough for more than 4! It was huge in its platter (I'm not sure if they put two portions together or not because of the special request) but heck, it was big!
It had fresh green leaf vegetables, topped with large-sized croutons, delicious creamy sauce and cheese. It was really light and super delicious - the leaves were crunchy and it was very green; totally fresh-looking. I was impressed by it and managed to clean it all up.
The main courses varied from pasta, risotto and pizza. As they came, it all looked soooo enticing - it looks neat, clean and so delicious. I didn't manage to try all sorts of the main course, I couldn't finish mine - Chicken Mushroom Spicy Risotto. The chicken was delectable and juicy, the rice was thick and never that I have thought that it was really be spicy!
I thought that because Singaporean's tongue was not meant to be spicy, but hell, this one made me drink my free-flow ice drink (part of the deal) and as a new record, didn't manage to clean up my meal! I was so full. Get this if you want to really fill yourself!
A scoop of ice cream with biscuit waffle on top - it was a great finish to the whole meal. Make sure you get the cookies and cream - the vanilla is just normal.
I had a great time in a great place - my family was impressed with the restaurant and was ready to come back. They were again, impressed with my findings of good restaurants, being the Park Royal hotel buffet, Spice, for my birthday previously (a review given already!)
Really, for a great price with the ambiance that looks great enough to be an Italian restaurant in hotels, this is just amazing. The garlic was strong but not overpowering the taste, and it's pretty spacious too. I'm aiming to get the private room next time - it's not that hard, afterall!
PS: I'm visiting them pretty often, with their special promotion! With their $10 voucher, you get the main meal and a drink, with the usual price of $23.90! They have a page in Gmarket Singapore where they sell the vouchers there for that price. It's amazing so YEAH ANOTHER GREAT PRICE OFFER!
Do get mad and go gaga over Mad for Garlic! They just recently re-opened from a renovation process from the 15th.
