Arnold's Fried Chicken has just opened a new outlet in Yishun yesterday. The store has a huge turnout on the first day of business and it was a sold-out when I visited it. So I make plan to visit the place for dinner the following day which is today but the queue is very long. Twice unlucky for me. For those do not known about Arnold's Fried Chicken, it is Singapore's local version of KFC. It origins from an outlet in City Plaza, which is still there.

I refuse to give up and try again to visit at 9.45pm. This time I am lucky. There is only an aunty at the queue who cannot make her mind what to order. Please note that there is only queue from door facing the movie ticket counter to the cashier, and there is only one cashier. So that is why the queue has been long when I have visited the place during dinner time. Due to the late hour, only limited items are left. The spring chicken has sold out and there is only 9 pieces of chicken left in the kitchen. Looking at the menu on the cashier's counter, I decide on the 2-piece chicken meal. It costs $6.60 and served with potato fries and coleslaw. I am given a pager after making payment. I go to the counter to collect my order when the pager rings. Firstly there is no one at the counter to serve me. It is sometimes before one of the staffs finally notice me. To my surprise, I am given a plastic bag with 2 boxes inside. I realise the order is not right, and ask the staff. The staff still ask if I want to change anything. I have to repeat myself to make him understand that the order is wrong. Finally I am given a box of the 2-piece chicken meal in a plastic bag. I am thinking to me, 'hi you have not asked me if I would like to dine in or take away. How can you assume I would like to takeaway?'. Looking at how messy the kitchen is when changing my order, I decide to let it go.

The specially marinated and then deep fried till golden brown chicken is crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. The batter is thin and has a rather strong curry taste, way much better than KFC. The fries are not bad being big and chucky. The vegetables in the coleslaw is a bit too fine and tastes average.

Overall the food is great, but the service sucks big time. Maybe it could because it is just the second day. Maybe I will visit the place again when they are settled in. There is quite of interesting items such as Ice Kacang with Ice Cream on the menu which I look forwards to try.
