We had a craving for pasta on a public holiday, so we headed out to the nearby Pasta Fresca at Bukit Timah for lunch. Being a branch restaurant in the surburbs, we had expected a laid-back version of the boat quay branch.

The restaurant is divided into two sections: an airconditioned area facing the kitchen; an al fresco area. Entering via the main entrance, we were directed to the al fresco area as "the air con area might get hot due to the hot air coming from the kitchen". We were seated next to a large family affair who seemed to be enjoying themselves. After about 5 minutes, we were handed the menu and we selected our dishes. In the meantime, one patron of the restaurant started smoking near the tables outside, and as a result, we were breathing in second-hand smoke. To compound that, we vainly spent 10 minutes trying to get a waiter to take our order, so we left without any food.

You'd do better with the family-run italian restaurant just down the row.
