The outlet here at Nex is quite huge and as usual, there's always a large crowd. Thankfully they try to be efficient with their service, although sometimes it can be a bit brusque due to the stress of handling so many people. Generally though, service staff are quite polite. The waitress serving us was rattling off the dishes we ordered so fast that we could hardly make out what she was saying - but anyway, they give you the order slip so you can counter-check the items ordered.

Here's my recommended items to order:

- Oriental salad in special vinegar sauce

Order the oriental salad as an appetizer first while waiting for the rest of the dishes. I love the tangy dressing with the fragrance of aromatic sesame oil. The crunch of the black fungus goes well with the sliced beancurd, vermicelli and bean sprouts. A really appetizing and healthy dish - a must-try!

- Fried rice with pork chop

The fried rice with pork chop is another winner. The rice is coated evenly with plenty of egg and yet is not too oily - wholesome goodness with each bite
The pork chop is very tender and also well-marinated. A very satisfying dish.

- Hot & sour soup (small)

The "small" bowl of hot & sour soup is actually quite a large portion and can be easily shared between 2-3 people. The soup base is not too sour but you can add more black vinegar to it to adjust to your own preferred taste. There's plenty of ingredients in the soup, e.g. tender chicken pieces, sliced beancurd, bamboo shoots and black fungus in a tasty thick broth. Ground black pepper added to the soup gives it a spicy kick. A really nice dish as well.

- Steamed pork dumplings (xiao long bao)

Finally, the star of the meal - the xiao long bao! I actually secretly wished that one of the dumplings has leaked open - because if that happens, they will automatically give you another replacement for free, haha - which I don't mind
. But that only happened once before after so many numerous visits to din tai fung....so that attests to the skill of the chefs yah? As usual, the skin of the xiao long bao is thin and there's a generous amount of broth contained within each dumpling which oozes out with each bite. You can taste the sweetness of pork within the broth and the nice bite of fresh minced pork within each dumpling. Yummy!

As long as the standard of their food remains, I will always be their ardent fan regardless of the endless queues!
