I've heard raves about alkaff Mansion before and thus was very happy to see that it is in the listing for Restaurant Week. We chose to sit outside with the greenery around and soft jazz band singing. It was definitely a very romantic place and a very good idea to bring your dates. We made our choice very quickly as it was a set menu for restaurant week. THey served us bread appetizers with olive oil and balsamic, and then followed by a special starter (not in the menu) which was a tuna tartare with dried tomatoes. Nice touch there.

We had the dinner proper, starting with the potato dumpling duck ragout. It tasted alot like beef but was a heavy starter! Taste was good and the potato dumplings were soft and smooth, not mushy at all.

For mains, I chose the oven baked atlantic cod and my bf had the Slow cooked beef short rib with potatoes in a chestnut 'fondue'. I had a bite of the chestnut sauce which was surprisingly tasty and chestnut was very well cooked to be soft to the bite. The atlantic cod was very fresh and i liked the mushroom sauce on the side. The portions for both dishes looked small but I can tell you at the end of the meal i was super full!

The dessert was a little lacklustre-- a cream cheese parfait. It looked like a cheesecake but the texture felt like forzen ice cream. It was also a weird combination of sweet on the outside but had a salty part in it. It was special but didnt work for me.

I would definitely recommend this place for its excellent service, food quality and ambience. And for people looking for a garden wedding, i think it makes a very good location as well!
